Tips for Success in NSCAS Reading and Math Tests
Attendance is a MUST
Please avoid scheduling appointments or vacation time on your child's testing dates.
Get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast
This is probably the most underrated tip!
Encourage reading
Good reading skills factor heavily in a timed test, so help motivate your child to read by offering fun and interesting materials. Ask questions about what your child is reading for insight into progress he/she is making in reading comprehension.
Chat with your child
Testing measures critical thinking. Ask your child to discuss his/her ideas and voice their opinions often to stimulate thought processes.
Communicate with your child's teacher
Your child's teacher is your partner in monitoring their overall academic progress.
Relax and remain positive
The best test takers are calm, confident, and at ease!
