Track/Field Update
Track and field will start on April 28th. As this date approaches, a sign-up form will be sent out. As a reminder, track and field is open to all 7th and 8th grade students. As with all sports this year, track will look a little different. Unfortunately, we were unable to acquire any track space at the high schools due to their busy spring schedules, but we are still going to be able to run a modified track season. Track practices will run Monday-Wednesday where coaches will teach the athletes the different events and how to be successful at them. On Thursday and Friday, we will run in-house track meets at Jefferson where our athletes will compete against each other in those events. There will be no fees required this year for track, but we will still require a sports physical in order to participate. In addition, all athletes will need to have the necessary Covid paperwork filled out and turned in. The Covid forms can be found HERE and HERE. If those forms have previously been turned in for another sport, they DO NOT have to be turned in again. If you have any questions, please reach out to our athletic director, John Bilardello. His email is jbilardello@naperville203.org We look forward to a great season and can’t wait to get started!

All School Read
Patriots, we are thrilled and excited to announce that this year's All School Read is The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart! This 2022 Rebecca Caudill nominee is a truly heartwarming book, exactly what we all need to close out this crazy year.
Mr. Gemeinhart will be virtually visiting us on Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m., and all Patriots and their families will be able to attend. Whether it's reading the book in language arts, joining a read aloud in class, checking out a book in print or in Sora from the LC or a teacher's classroom library, be sure get to know Coyote and the crazy cast of characters she meets on her cross-country journey.
And if those options aren't enough for you, Mr. Gemeinhart has graciously allowed us to record our own Jefferson version of the book read by some of your favorite Patriots! Links to all the chapters are found on your child’s Canvas page. Watch the video below he recorded just for us to share this great news!
Happy reading, everyone!

Saliva Sample Collection Days
We will collect samples every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the school year. If you would still like to opt in to have your student participate in the surveillance testing, please contact the main office at 1-630-420-6363.

Jefferson's 50th Celebration
Speaker for JJHS Parent Night April 21st @ 7PM
All around us we hear people say that “It has been a very stressful year.” But what exactly is stress, and how does it affect us? Is all stress bad? How does stress show up in our bodies, mood, and behavior? Does stress impact attitude and performance at school? (You bet!) And what are the best ways in which we can support our students?
All of these questions will be answered in our webinar: “Stressed Brains Can’t Learn: How Stress Impacts Behavior in School and at Home & What We Can Do About It.”
Dr. Marloes Verhoeven, a licensed clinical psychologist at Oasis Mental Health who specializes in stress, overwhelm, and trauma, will explain the effects stress can have on you and your student. She will help you understand key concepts that can change the way you recognize and manage stress, and will walk you through proven, effective ways to improve overall health, relationships, and JJHS performance.
If you are interested in attending virtually on April 21st at 7PM, please complete the RSVP form linked here.
