November Level UPdate
#weCODE
Thank you for being a part of our community!
At Level Up Academy, we believe in a motto that states, "We go slow in order to go fast." This means that in the beginning of the year we put a priority on teaching expectations, developing group norms, and forming relationships. Academically, we are moving slowly during these first few weeks, as we carve out time for these important educational needs.
When we intentionally address these needs, the impact is that academics thrive! Academically we can accomplish more in environments with a solid foundation that are both safe and welcoming to our students. When students feel they belong to a community, they are more likely to engage, take healthy academic risks, and build a growth mindset.
We are in week seven of the 2019-20 school year. Our teachers have facilitated community building in each of our classrooms. Our morning and afternoon circles, learning about #weCODE, and developing classroom routines are all a part of each classroom community. As a school community, we have laid the foundation for academic success. We are excited to continue the journey and growth with each of your children!
Thank you for being a part of our LUA community and contributing to the success of our students and school! We hope to see you ALL at LUA for conferences this Monday and Tuesday! We are shooting for 100% participation!

Conferences
"Level Up Academy holds two family/teacher conferences throughout the year. As we evolve as a school our conferences will evolve too. The objective of each conference is to celebrate the learning and growth of each child.
This year, all conferences will be student-led. This means that your child will lead the conference and explain their learning to you. Of course, this will be developmentally appropriate with shared efforts between teachers and students at the younger ages, progressing toward fully student-led at the middle school level.
In order to make improvements and corrections in student learning, our teachers will be in contact with you about your child’s progress often and throughout the year as needed. This way, the student-led conferences will focus on student success, and concerns will be handled collaboratively, before and after the conference. Gone are the days when teachers withhold growth until conference times!"
