Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
September 14, 2018
Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
This first full week of the year has gone well. The new schedule is in place and kids seem to be acclimating themselves to the rotation of classes and the discretionary choice inherent in WoodburyONE. Teachers have assisted students with this transition in many ways. One particularly helpful approach was to give students a blank schedule with the rotations and allow them to write in their specific classes on the sheet. Students then placed these 'individualized' schedules in the front of their binders for easy viewing. You can find a copy of this blank schedule below if you'd like to try this with your own child. PowerSchool lists classes in an order that corresponds to Monday. Just take those classes and distribute them across the other days following the pattern.
A few of our high school students were honored in different ways this week. Representatives from our school attended the Colonial Conference Sportsmanship Breakfast. Our students met up with kids from other schools and were afforded the opportunity to speak with head officials regarding the rules and expectations for the upcoming sports seasons. The students who represented Woodbury were:
Aaliyah Robinson
Nicole Rogers
Nykia Hampton
Hunter Sprouls
Zack Campo
Sarah Schollenberger
Shanon Kelly
Thomas Stanek
Devin Love
CahJuan Maye
The Touchdown Club of South Jersey hosted 'Captain's Night' on Tuesday. Andre Parker, JaQuel Wilcox and TyShawn Smith represented the Thundering Herd at the dinner.
Furthermore, Henry McIntyre was the first Woodbury student ever chosen as a 'Governor's STEM Scholar'. Congratulations to Henry on this awesome accomplishment!
Anthony Reagan, a Woodbury alumnus, earned his first victory as Head Football Coach with a 20-6 win over Audubon. We are all proud of Coach and his commitment our students, our school, our town and to building a successful program.
Next week will be the first meeting of the year for the PTSA at 6 pm in the library. This is great opportunity to get involved in our school and help create an awesome place for your children. We hope to see many of you there!
Since this newsletter is designed to help improve our school's overall communication, I wanted to alert you to a Twitter hashtag our District has been using for a few years. If you didn't already know about it, go on Twitter and search for #WoodburyPride. You will get a feed with all the great things that are happening in classrooms around the district. Enjoy!
Keep Love Present,
Dr. Vivadelli

2019 Governor's STEM Scholar
Henry McIntyre, a Junior at Woodbury, was accepted into the Governor's STEM Scholars program for 2019. Henry endured a rigorous application process which included completion of seven essays, a certified transcript, and a letter of recommendation. The program provides Henry with an opportunity to conduct a STEM research project, go on field trips to research & development facilities, participate in face-to-face meetings and discussion panels with STEM professionals and NJ policymakers, earn internships and professional opportunities, and receive mentoring in the discipline he decides to major in. He has a passion for computer science and has been a volunteer in the development of a video game for Nickelodeon.
Henry will be the first student from Woodbury to earn this honor. We are all quite proud of him!
