WEEK
Monday, February 6th is English Day
Vision
JDE will empower confident learners for life-long success in an ever changing world.

A message from the Principal
We have finalized the Vision and Mission statements. Please become familiarized with them. We should all not only be able to recite them but know what they feel like, look like, and sound like at JDE. Please include them in your email signature and in your google classrooms, dojo pages, etc.
Thank you all for helping with the nurse's visits. We are getting better and although our visits are still high, we are improving. Please do not send students who only need a bandaid, a drink of water, or a visit to the restroom. Offer that first so that we can avoid unnecessary visits to the nurse, which ALL have to be logged by Nurse Matoi. Thank you for your cooperation.
We have a couple of important events this week, including reading and math interims for 3rd-5th grade. Please help our students by remaining quiet down the hallways and being courteous and respectful as they concentrate.
We also have the Sweetheart Dance: A Father Figures/Daughters event. This is scheduled on Friday, Feb. 10th from 4 PM to 6 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the front office.
It's going to be a great week! Thank your for all that you do for our firebirds and for our school community!
We're making success stories at JDE and no one is more ready than us!
Kind Regards,
Dr. Aranda

THIS WEEK IS SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK!!!!
WE CELEBRATE YOU THIS WEEK, AND ALL WEEKS BECAUSE YOU ARE AMAZING AND YOUR EFFORTS ARE UNMATCHED. We see it, our students feel it, our district acknowledges it, and the community is better for it.
To say thank you is not enough. We love you!!!
FIREBIRD SHOUT OOOUUUTTTT!!!!
Ms. Gaytan - Ms. Gaytan (I got her name right, LOL!!!) has earned the honor of Auxiliary Employee of the Year for JDE. I have no doubt she will represent our school well this year, just as she has done for many years. She is the epitome of a team player. Steps up to help and takes initiative. No one has to ask her to help. She jumps at the opportunity whenever she can.
Mrs. Dayrit - Mrs. Dayrit is loved by many, especially our JDE community. We are so happy that she has earned the recognition of her peers who have elected her to represent JDE as the Campus Teacher of the Year. Every time I visit her classroom, I am always amazed at not only her lessons or her delivery, but at the way students respond to her and how much they want to live up to her expectations. You are a force to be reckoned with!
Ms. Pulido - I am sure by now, you have noticed a new face in the library. Ms. Pulido has taken on the Library Aide position. In the short amount of time, her dedication and initiative have shown. This week, we had a student who needed assistance. She took the initiative and stepped out to help just because she heard admin on the radio. That's true Firebird spirit!!!
If you see them around school, please show them some <3!!!
ATTENDANCE
IF YOU HAVE STUDENTS WHO NEED REMOTE LEARNING, PLEASE LET MS. DAVILA KNOW.
Ms. Villasenor has created an absence excuse form for parents. She sent it out on Friday. Please remind your parents that this is available to them, in the event that they ask about excusing tardies or absences. Thank you, Mrs. Villasenor!
https://forms.gle/y2jU9WYVsWhAWBnc7
The goal is to have at least 96% attendance every day. The school day begins at 7:30 and it ends at 3:15 (with staggered dismissal times.) Please send a reminder to parents via class dojo to remind them of this.
If a student in your classroom is absent or tardy, please send a message of concern to parent. This does not serve as a "reprimand" but a reminder that attendance matters and that they miss so much even if they are tardy 15 minutes every day. Please remind parents that they need to provide a written note to excuse an absence. They have 5 days from the absence to provide this. This is important for many reasons. In the office, we will also be reminding parents about attendance expectations. If you have an issue with attendance in your classroom, please let Ms. Villasenor know so that we can address it right away.
PLEASE POST YOUR ATTENDANCE BY 9:45 AM EVERY MORNING!!!
The school day starts at 7:30. TEACHERS SHOULD BE IN CLASSROOMS BY 7:30
Week C - Plan for Week 24
Remember that for PLC, you must bring the high leverage low TEKS for your grade level. You must come with this information ready to be discussed. Be prepared to model a strategy for your colleagues so that we can implement in other classrooms and put it in our lesson plans. EVERYONE must participate and BE PREPARED!
