PODCAST: FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOLS
On the latest episode of the Every Student Every Day Podcast, our guest was founder of the Successful Practices Network and the International Center for Leadership, Bill Daggett, Ed.D. We discussed the future of artificial intelligence and the impact of technology in the classroom. Dr. Daggett provided insight as to how the education system prepares students for the future and how it could improve. STUDENTS IN THE YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT CLUB VISITED THE NEW YORK STATE CAPITOL
AP'S GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL FINISHED #2 IN THE SMALL TOWN TOP 25
AP's girls varsity basketball finished as #2 in the Small Town Top 25 ranking by MaxPreps. The team had a 24-1 record this season.
To be considered for inclusion in the Small Town Top 25, schools must have an enrollment of less than 1,000 students from towns with a population of less than 10,000.
3RD GRADERS AT PES RESEARCHED ROSA PARKS
UPCOMING KEYNOTE SPEECH: "FROM GUTTERS TO GREATNESS; SUCCESS HAS A PRICE"
On Wednesday, April 17, Lasada Pippen will present his keynote speech "From Gutters to Greatness; Success Has a Price" to all APHS students and staff. The speech is focused on helping students to explore their passions, discover their "why", and develop the habits, mindsets, and dispositions to be successful in whatever pursuits they take on in life.
This takes place this week during the final Wellness Week at APHS for the 23-24 school year.
AMS WORE PURPLE FOR THE MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD
AMS recognized children of current military service men and women. Students gathered for donuts and to share about their family servicemembers. The students then raised a new flag for the school in honor of members of our active-duty military.
Students and staff across the building also wore purple in honor of April being the Month of the Military Child. We thank the service men and women of our community and their children for their sacrifices for our nation and commitment to our nation's values.

WSL WORE PURPLE FOR THE MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD
On Friday, April 12th, along with all buildings around the district, West Sand Lake recognized their "military children" on PurpleUp! Day. Each child received a Certificate of Appreciation signed by Principal Rosher and had their photo taken with the special PurpleUp! frame. WSL sincerely thanks these children for the sacrifice they make to support military parents as they protect & serve our nation!

PES HAD ITS SCIENCE FAIR
A SOLAR ECLIPSE PARTY AT AMS
AMS had a great turn out for their solar eclipse viewing party on Monday afternoon. Nearly 300 students participated, staying after school to learn about the eclipse with their science teachers, enjoy snacks, and of course view the eclipse as it happened on the back fields.
Thank you to the 20 AMS teachers that stayed after with the students to enjoy the event together, and special thanks to Mr. Cavotta, Ms. Condo, Ms. Baker, and Ms. Brand.
AP CELEBRATIONS OF SUCCESS - APRIL 9
WSL THIRD GRADERS VISUALLY LEARNED ABOUT FRACTIONS
Third grade students at WSL worked with manipulative fraction strips.
These bars gave students a chance to really see the pieces when a given whole is partitioned or broken apart into equal spaced pieces. The more the whole is broken apart the smaller the pieces will be!

SOME STUDENTS WENT TO THE ADIDAS NATIONALS AND THE NEW BALANCE NATIONALS
Recently, at the Adidas Nationals held in Virginia Beach, VA, four students qualified for the Elite Boys Distance Medley Relay. Junior Jeremy Wing ran the 1200M portion of the relay in 3:29.8. Sophomore Jack O'Connor ran the 400M in 55.1; Junior Teddy Dangler ran the 800m in 2:15.1; and senior Evan O'Connor ran the 1600m in 4:42.7, a combined team time of 11:22.87 and finished 3rd overall.
Two 8th graders qualified for the New Balance Nationals held in Boston, MA in the 60M Dash, Adam Pieluszczak with a time of 8.36 and Matthew Galuski finished 11th overall with a time of 7.54.

UPDATED 2023-2024 SCHOOL CALENDAR
The District calendar for 2023-2024 has been revised. The changes are as follows:
- Friday, May 24 there will be no school;
- Friday, June 21 and Monday, June 24 will both be a half day of instruction for grades K-8;
- Monday, June 24 will be the last day of school for grades K-8.
Also, as a reminder, Friday, June 14 is now a half day of instruction for grades K-8.
