How the toga's came to be.
In ancient rome they wore large pieces of wool wrapped around themselves, once the romans met egyptians and greeks, they wore linen tunics under their wool robes to be more comfortable. For fancy occasions men wore wool robes over their tunics, called togas. The toga had many rules on how it should be worn, some would have stripes, others with other patterns, to show the difference in society. Women wore more than one linen tunic and a wool scarf or veil over their tunics, which they could pull over their heads if it was raining or cold; they would also wear wooden hairsticks, or wooden combs that they would also use to comb their hair. On the feet they wore leather sandals, and in the winter leather boots.
