NJROTC Cadets Shine: Pass in Review Ceremony Celebrates Dedication & Excellence
Recently, our NJROTC Cadets, under the leadership of Master Gunnery Sergeant Jesus Lizano, participated in the traditional Pass iin Review ceremony. The Pass in Review is centered on marching the unit past a reviewing officer, a time honored tradition of leaders looking over the unit to gauge its discipline, readiness, and fitness. The Pass in Review is part of higher level changes of command. The Annual Managers Inspection involves a detailed uniform inspection of all the Cadets, a Wall to Wall Inventory of all items in the classroom (this was managed by Harmony Breen), Cadet Marching movements (conducted by Ian Smith), financial records allotted to NJROTC, and of course, the Pass in Review.
Recipients of the Award for Achievement during our inspection - the following Cadets were presented with this Award: Harmony Breen, Maddox Price, Joseph Hernandez, and Ian Smith.
Participating Cadets: Khalif Anderson, Samantha Bollinger, Brice Bowles, Harmony Breen, Patrick Cotter, Zaiid Davis-Green, Athena Diaz, Bethanny Drawbaugh, Joseph Hernandez, Lucas Myers, Camryn Patrizio, Maddox Price, Caden Richards, Andrew Russ, Landon Shue, Ian Smith, Marvin Vega, Azyah Walker, Layla Wallace, EJ Washington, Nataleah Webber, and Faith Wittig.
Beautiful Voices Filled the Air at Our MS/HS Choral Festival Concert
Under the direction of Mr. Robert Titus, WY Choral Director, several of our choral groups performed for a nearly packed auditorium at the Middle School. These groups included, in order of performance:
- Seventh & Eighth Grade Choir
- Sixth Grade Choir
- Middle School Motion Group
- High School Legacy Choir
- High School Choir
The theme of the song selection was Hope Lost and Found. The audience was taken on a musical journey from times when we feel down, lost and have a hard time holding on to hope, until we begin to move through this period, toward the hope, to when we find it and the uplifting experienced when we realize everything will be okay, we will be okay.
Thank you to all of our very talented choral students and Mr. Titus. Below the pictures, you can enjoy a few recordings from the concert! Be sure to have your volume turned way up!

Masked Singer Returns to Lincolnway!
Lincolnway Elementary is again holding their March Masked Singer Contest! Twenty-three faculty/staff members volunteered to submit recordings of themselves singing a short piece of a song and each morning two recordings are played during morning announcements. The students are then able to cast their vote electronically for one of the two recordings, moving the unmasked singer forward in the competition. The person who did not receive the most votes is then revealed by name! Last year's winner was Ms. Faith Wentworth . . . who will it be this year?!
Check out the recordings below voted on between March 1st and March 13th! More to come in the next two issues, including the 2024 winner!

YCAL CREW Event
Each year, York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) offers their CREW program (Career Readiness Education Workshop) to help students who may not have set a career or educational plan after high school graduation. Several students from the High School attended YCAL's CREW event held at Penn State York earlier this week. Ms. Kristyn Rost and Mr. Mark Hoffman chaperoned the group of students. Attendees participated in three sessions on various career presentations, listened to a panel of speakers related to employability skills (soft skills needed in the workforce), and were able to attended a career expo with employers and post-secondary institutions.
Author Shares Her Writing and Publication Process
This past week, students in Ms. Laura Livingston's fifth grade Guided Reading groups at Trimmer Elementary had the opportunity to talk with the author of the book they just finished reading. Deborah Hopkinson, author of Dive! World War II Stories of Sailors and Submarines in the Pacific "visited" Trimmer from Oregon. She spoke with students about the books she is currently working on, how some of them relate to Dive!, the writing and publication process, and some of the military experts she has worked alongside. Ms. Hopkinson even introduced her dog, Rue, to the class. Ms. Hopkinson loves dogs and tries to incorporate them in all of her books. Rue reminded the students of the infamous submarine stowaway pup they read about in Dive!. Students also had the opportunity to ask Ms. Hopkinson questions about being an author and shared their favorite parts of the book with her.
Lots of Learning Combined with Lots of Fun!
Students in Ms. Kelsey Sersen's class at Lincolnway Elementary had so much fun exploring and creating during their field trip to Keystone Kidspace! They engaged in gross and fine motor skills, socialization, science and math concepts, and even got to play in some magical indoor snow. We are so proud of how these Bulldogs represented Lincolnway!

Storytime with Our School Counselor - Important Lessons
Lincolnway Elementary school counselor, Ms. Vanessa Bicher, came in to Ms. Kelsey Sersen's class to teach two different lessons this month. In the first lesson, she read Hands Are Not For Hitting by Martine Agassi and Germs Are Not For Sharing by Elizabeth Verdick. Students practiced the skills taught in the books, such as appropriate greetings, coughing coughs, etc. In her second lesson, Ms. Bicher reviewed different career types and community helpers. Thanks, Ms. Bicher, for spending some time with us and helping us grow!
