Family Reading Night Held at Washington Middle School
Family Reading Night, a free community event, was held on Friday, March 1, at Washington Middle School. The Community Literacy Foundation, in partnership with the School District of Washington, Washington Public Library and Friends of the Library, Neighborhood Reads Bookstore and the Washington Optimist Club, hosted the event. Labadie Elementary Holds Ribbon Cutting for Updated Playground
Labadie Elementary held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its playground update on Monday, March 18. Students, staff, district officials, parents and community members were on hand to celebrate the event. Click here for the story.
Solar Eclipse Viewing on Monday, April 8; Students Must Opt-In to Participate
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross over the United States. The solar eclipse will be visible in Missouri, and totality begins around 1:56 p.m. CDT. Teaching Careers Students Compete at Educators Rising State Conference
Four Rivers Career Center Teaching Careers students competed at the State Educators Rising Conference on Wednesday, March 6, where they won several awards. The conference was held at Westminster College in Fulton and hosted Educators Rising chapters from across the state. Click here for the story.

Washington High School Scholar Bowl Claims Gateway Athletic Conference Title
Competing at the Gateway Athletic Conference Scholar Bowl meet on Saturday, March 9, at Winfield High School, Washington High School won its fifth straight GAC title and eighth in the last nine years. During the past nine years, Washington has posted a 69-2 game record. Click here for the story.

WHS Student Grant Cottrell Selected to Participate in Missouri Agribusiness Academy
Washington High School student Grant Cottrell was one of 30 high school sophomores recently selected to participate in the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA). Cottrell and the other students selected will spend a week in June in the Springfield area learning about many of the unique opportunities available in agriculture. Click here for the story.

Marthasville Elementary Color Run/Walk Scheduled for May 4
The Marthasville Elementary Color Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, at Marthasville City Park. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. The one mile fun run/walk begins at 10:30 a.m. The event is open to the public. Participants do not have to be a Marthasville Elementary family to participate.
