Washington School: April Issue 2018
Letter from Mrs. Daly
Dear Washington Families,
It’s hard to believe Spring is here. It’s also hard to believe that we have begun our
last semester of the school year. Where has the year gone? April and May are always very
busy months. Please review the calendar in the newsletter for all of the upcoming events.
Dogs at School: With the nice weather returning, many families are walking to school,
which is great. However, we ask that you leave the dog at home. Even the most gentle and friendly dog can become overwhelmed with 651 excited students around. Also, we have many students and adults who are allergic to dogs or terrified of dogs. We love dogs, but ask you to please not bring them to school, as it is district policy not to have them on school grounds. The sidewalks in the front and sides of the building are occupied with children before and after school, so I ask that we all respect these rules regarding dogs. Thank you!
Student Appearance: As the weather is getting nicer and will continue to get warmer,
please make sure your students come to school dressed and groomed in a manner suitable and conducive to the good health and safety of the student and not disruptive to the educational process. In general, students are expected to be fully clothed from the shoulders to at least approximately mid-thigh. Shoulders must be covered with clothing; spaghetti straps, halter-tops, and bare midriffs are NOT appropriate school attire. Shorts should not be shorter than mid-thigh length. Hats may NOT be worn during the school day. Wearing distracting items is not allowed. Please refer to the district handbook if you have any questions.
Monday, April 16th is the Kindergarten orientation. Please make sure you read the detailed information below regarding that evening.
Wishing all of you a Happy Spring!
Warmly,
Warmly,
Mrs. Daly
