Information and Reminders
- Please return your conference form if you have not already done so.
- Remember to study the word wall words this week. They are the same words as last week.
- I am sending home a sheet of math vocabulary words. The word is on the front and the definition is on the back. The students will need to know the definitions for the math test on Thursday. The students will not need to know the exact definition from the card, but they will need to be able to explain the term in his/her own words.
- Students should wear a Wren t-shirt on the field trip and wear tennis shoes. Please send a light jacket or sweater if it is cold on Friday morning.
- Parents going on the field trip may take their child home from Roper Mountain Science Center.

Reading
Weekly Stories: Sea Animals
Skills this week:
- reading words with th at the beginning and ending (bath, third)
- Learning new sight words
- Identifying the main idea and details in a story
- Proper nouns
The students will have a spelling and sight word test on Thursday this week due to the field trip on Friday.
Sight Words

Word Wall Words: Students should be able to read these words. We will work on spelling these correctly when we write during writer's workshop. They will not be on the spelling test.

Math
The class will continue a unit on subtraction. We will be working on subtraction from 9 and 10, reviewing strategies to subtract from any number, and identifying if a math statement is true or false.
Example: 2 + 2 = 4 (true)
3 + 2 = 4 (false)
Science
This week we will begin our science unit on force and motion. We will work on the position of objects and forces that push and pull.
Homework
Mon. - math sheet; study sight words; choose one way to practice spelling words
Tues. math sheet ; study sight words; choose one way to practice spelling words
Thurs.- The class will take the spelling and sight word test .
Friday- There is no reading response journal this week due to the field trip on Friday.
