Hello Champion Parents/Guardians!
It has been a wonderful week getting to know your scholars and practicing our school routines. Our Hawthorne agreements include; Be Safe, Be Respectful. Please take some time to discuss these agreements with your scholar and how they can apply to home life as well. Again, having as our partners in educating our students, is vital for their success.
Thank you for following our bus /vans pick up signs as it is essential to ensure everyone gets home safely.
DRILLS:
Parents next week we will be practicing our fire, lock down, lock -out and shelter drills with all scholars. We will be practicing how to come out quickly and quietly, where to go for shelter and what to do when in lock-down. Teachers will be taking the time to explain the importance of practicing each drill to ensure everyone is accounted for and is safe.

Getting to know your Hawthorne Staff FlIPGRID
It's time to get to know some of our staff!! Parents please share these videos with your scholars. This will give them an opportunity to get to know their teachers and other adults they will see around their school.

DROP OFF / PICK UP PROCEDURES
Safety is everyone's responsibility. With our larger number of enrollment PLEASE take care of ALL our scholars. Our procedures will be concise and consistent and will require patience from ALL of you. Please plan to park and walk your child to the playground to line up with their class.
First bell rings at 8:30; students are expected to be in the classroom at 8:35 late bell is 8:40am.
- Scholars may be dropped off as early as 8:20, on the playground where our supervisors are located. If it is raining or too cold, scholars will be let in at 8:20am through door #7 to line up in the gymnasium.
- Classroom teachers will be present to help students line up and enter the building together the first weeks of school. Parents we begin building your child's independence and confidence from day one, so please say your goodbyes at the door in order to begin their community building right away.
- Scholars who come for breakfast must be lined up with their teacher at 8:30am.
- Scholars who are coming for before school care should be dropped off on back parking lot, door 10, and signed in to Park and Recreation staff.
- We do not have any adult supervision on our playgrounds prior to 8:20am. Unless your child is part of the before and after school care program, they should not arrive to school prior to 8:20am.
- NEW: If you scholar is late, arriving to school after 3:40, your child must check into the office to ensure attendance.
School End Time: 3:40
Please note: All scholars will be brought to the back playground for pick up, it is up to each family to determine the meeting location at the end of the day. Please establish this location with your child before school.
