District Goal: WE empower all students to achieve post-high school success.
Take the Annual Parent Survey
Please take a few moments to complete the BSD Annual Parent Survey during the month of April! The survey helps us to evaluate our progress in educating your child and with planning for the future. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our school community feels welcomed, valued, and informed, so it is important for all parents/guardians to complete the survey. The survey data will be summarized so that each person who answers will remain anonymous.
A link to the 2017 Annual Parent Survey will be sent to all valid parent email addresses via SchoolMessenger today, Monday, April 3, 2017. The deadline to participate is Friday, April 28, 2017. You can view a copy of the survey in both English and Spanish on the Research & Reports webpage.
2017 Annual Elementary & Middle School Student Surveys
Each year the District surveys students to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessments of progress on the District’s Strategic Plan. The 2017 surveys for elementary and middle school students will be given to students April 10-June 9, 2017.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the surveys are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey.
Student surveys in middle schools include three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity/race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child do not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
Copies of all 2017 Student Surveys are available on the District’s Research & Reports webpage, or at your child’s school. After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify their school.

For students at Mountain View, Five Oaks and Highland Park middle schools, Band Rocks!
Every Wednesday, for eight weeks, middle school musicians learn from and play alongside professional musicians and Aloha High School band mentors for small group instrument instruction and whole-band rehearsal. To make it fun, and to pique their interest, students learn modern and popular songs like the theme to Star Wars, "Some Nights" by the band Fun and Chicago's "25 Or 6 To 4".
The featured Pillar Stories are shared on the District’s main webpage in a rotating slide show. Each Pillar has a photo with an accompanying story.
