Family Reminder from Mr. Bruno
Dear BCSD families,
We understand the frustration as we continue to navigate the impact of COVID-19 in our community and schools. As always, our school nurses are here to ensure the health and safety of our students. Again, this year, our school nurses have the added responsibility of communicating and following Monroe County Department of Public Health protocols relative to COVID-19 and symptomatic students. We ask for your continued understanding, patience, and kindness when interacting with our nursing staff. We would also like to remind you that as Monroe County is seeing COVID cases rise amongst children, prior to sending your student to school in the morning ask yourself if your child currently has one or more of these new or worsening symptoms:
- A temperature greater than 100.0 F
- Feels feverish or has chills
- Cough
- Loss of taste or smell
- Fatigue
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Muscle pain or body aches
- Headaches
- Nasal Congestion
We recognize that in many cases these symptoms may be allergies or a cold; however, we are required to follow the Monroe County Department of Public Health’s protocol which states that a student needs either an alternate diagnosis, a negative PCR test (not an antigen test), or to complete a quarantine and be symptom free prior to returning to school. Please know that our number one priority is keeping our students and staff safe and our schools open. Thank you for your continued support. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to your child’s building principal.
Sincerely,
Sean Bruno
Superintendent of Schools
