SEL News from the desk of Amy Argubright
Hello! Each week, the SEL newsletter focuses on a different SEL competency and includes valuable resources and activities that you can use to promote well-being at home or in the classroom. This week's topic is Social Awareness and Empathy. Developing empathy in teenagers is important because it teaches them to reflect, observe and think about their own behavior. Help them to notice and name feelings and communicate to others appropriately.
Click the link for videos and helpful tips.
I am happy to be here to support the students, staff, and families of CMS! Have a great week!

We want to encourage our students to continue to exhibit our core values of Respect, Excellence, Unity, and Empower.
Keep up the good work BearCats!!
Did you know that state laws require students taking courses for high school credit must meet the attendance requirement as well? They must attend at least 90% of each course. Time missed must be petitioned for credit. Students that miss more than 75% of the course will lose credit indefinitely and must retake the course.
TEEN TRUTH: FILM FESTIVAL.
The TEEN TRUTH movement started as a creative response to the Columbine tragedy, as young filmmakers they just wanted to give kids a voice. They created some amazing student-shot films and launched a mission that has reached millions.
The TEEN TRUTH: FILM FESTIVAL is their way of continuing that effort. Each year they receive student-made films from around the world as they celebrate many of the best student filmmakers on the planet.
This year's festival is now open for submissions... So, please share with your children, or anyone else who is passionate about empowering student voice.
