Extra: Here's a link to the EagleCam, and what EagleCam is is a camera in an eagle's nest, and you get to get a close up view of the life of an eagle!http://www.webcams.dnr.state.mn.us/eagle/

From the Teacher
We are also working on our fluency and expression with Reader's Theater and The Island of Dr. Libris. The students have been learning how to synthesize and they have some great strategies for synthesizing multiples texts. We are in midst of creating decimal presentations for next week. We are also working on a natural disaster group project that we should be able to wrap up this week. Word Study will resume the week after Spring Break.

Global Events By: Rohil
Brussels Terror Attacks
This week started with very sad events in Europe. On Tuesday 2 explosions hit Brussels killing 30 people. First attack hit the airport killing 10 people then another hit a subway station which killed 20 more. More than 230 people were injured. ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) terrorist group took responsibility for the 2 explosions. Man hunt is underway to arrest the people behind the attacks. Same group was behind the Paris attacks that rocked the city in November of last year.
Obama’s visit to Cuba
Obama visited Cuba this week. He was the first president in over 80 years to visit the country. The relationship between U.S. and Cuba became sour when Fidel Castro came to power 1959 and established a communist rule in Cuba. The relationship began to open up in late 2014 when they released an American prisoner to the U.S. Since then then the relationship between them has began to grow stronger. When Obama went to Cuba this week he promised to improve trades and diplomatic ties to the country. It should help the Cuban people to live a better life.
FUN FACTS BY: KARTHICK
This waterfall found in Antarctica's McMurdo Dry Valley, is a five-story waterfall that pours slowly out of the Taylor Glacier and into Lake Bonney. It is supplied by this water by a patch of water underneath the glacier that is 3 times saltier then sea water. The water that feeds Blood Falls is completely cut off from the atmosphere—it has never seen sunlight and is completely devoid of oxygen. It's also extremely rich in iron, which was churned into the water by glaciers scraping the bedrock below the lake. When water from the subglacial lake seeps through a fissure in the glacier, the salty water cascades down the Taylor Glacier into Lake Bonney below. When the iron-rich water comes into contact with the air, it rusts—depositing blood red stains on the ice as it falls.

WEEKLY ADVICE BY: ANJALI
Dear Anjali,
Kids have been budging and running past people to the lunch table on the way in from recess and it is really annoying. What can I do?
From a concerned lunch lover!
Dear Concerned Lunch Lover,
Some things you can do are to ask them to stop or you can stick your hand out before they run by that way they slow down before they crash into your arm. Or you can tell a lunch lady and ask them for help.
If you need advice about something, please contact Anjali.
