Turing's Work!
Alan Turing worked for the Government Code an Cypher School at Bletchley Park in World War Two, he created a number of techniques for speeding up the breaking of the German Cypher. He cracked the Enigma code that enabled the Allies to defeat the Nazis. He helped save over 14 million people.
His Life
Turing was born on 23 June 1912 he had one older brother called John and was enrolled at St Michael's a day school at 20 Charles Road at the age six, the headmistress saw how smart he was early on and enrolled him at Sherborne School. He was clever but the teachers did not appreciate him and he was bullied mercilessly. Unfortunately being gay was illegal, and after all his work, Turing committed suicide on the 1st June 1954 because of it.
