CMEA Weekly
April 18, 2024
Did your kids come home talking about the STEAM event yesterday? It was memorable, that's for sure! There were twelve different stations that focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and/or math -- from controlling robots and building arches to going on a virtual reality adventure and examining the differences in fingerprints. The kids had a blast! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to fund special events like this. And an extra-special shoutout to the parent volunteers!
Auction Total Update (And Final Call for Last-Chance Items)
We have collected over $12,700 and will have final numbers as we wrap up the extended auction!
We have a couple of music trial lessons, private lessons at Ultimate Self Defense studios, a $1,500 gift certificate for new patients at Highlands Ranch Orthodontics, and tickets to 2 concerts at Red Rocks. It’s a first come, first serve basis with a "Buy Now" option.
Maybe you missed out on your auction item? Don’t worry, the link below has options to make flat donations, as well.
As always, thank you for your support!!

UPDATE: Kona Ice Postponed Until Next Week, 4/25
When: Thursday, April 25th
Where: Front of the School
What Time: 3:30-5:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, due to the weather (thanks, Colorado!), Kona Ice has been rescheduled for next Thursday, 4/25. The good news? They'll stick around a little longer (until 5:00 p.m.), so the Landsharks can join in on the fun after practice!
Teachers, Books, and Doughnuts -- Oh My!
Ready for a busy (but fun) May?
As we close out the year, we want to celebrate teachers and school staff during Colorado’s Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6th-10th). Please keep a look out for flyers and newsletters for how to volunteer, donate, and get your kids involved.
May 6th-10th is also when we will have the book fair at our school!
And to end the busy week with a bang, we're going to do another popular Doughnuts With Grownups! Why not wrap up the school year and support the book fair with a few tasty treats with friends?
Please RSVP here for Doughnuts with Grownups (May 10th): RSVP LINK
Boohoo and Woohoo Potluck for Steve: Sunday, May 19th
When: Sunday, May 19th
Where: Red-Tail Park
What Time: 4:00-7:00 p.m.
As we close out the year, we are also saying goodbye to someone who has meant so much to our school. Our princiPAL, Steve, is retiring, and while we are sad (boohoo!) to see him go, we also know he has many fun adventures ahead in his next chapter (woohoo!).
Please save the date for May 19th (4:00-7:00 p.m.) at Red-Tail Park for a potluck gathering to wish him well. We encourage you to bring your favorite dish and invite other CME families (current and past) to join us.
Let's show Steve just how much we appreciate all that he's done for our kids!
RSVP by letting us know what you are bringing: Potluck Sign Up

Don’t forget to keep your confirmation as your receipt for ordering.
Want To Be a CME Kindie Ambassador?
Speaking of the new school year, CMEA is in search of a couple of volunteers to help coordinate incoming kindie playdates over the summer. We usually host one per month (June, July, August) at one of the playgrounds in the neighborhood.
All that is required is hanging out on the playgrounds for a couple of hours and saying hello to incoming kindie families. You'll be doing that already, right? If you've attended these before, you know it's a great way for families and kids to get to know one another before school.
We can set dates/times based on your availability. We can also give you some flyers and CME swag to share.
Please email CMEAPTO@gmail.com if you're interested. It's a great (and easy) way to share your love of CME with the community!

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
Upcoming CMEA Events: Ongoing
We are always looking for volunteers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation, our Daughter Event, our Son Event, School Beautification, our Spring Fundraiser, etc. If you would like to volunteer with CMEA in any way, please let us know.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year, our total donation received is typically in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so. It’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
- Visit kingsooperscommunityrewards.com.
- Sign in or register with your King Soopers card or phone number.
- Click on Enroll.
- Search by school code (AB638) or organization name (Copper Mesa Elementary School - CMEA).
RENT THE ROCK!
Don’t forget to reserve the Spirit Rock for your special dates! Sign up HERE for the date you need and submit payment through MySchoolBucks or drop off cash/checks at the front office.
**Please remember: Reservations do not begin until 4:00 pm the day prior to your reservation. Rock painting should not begin prior to 4:00 p.m. We appreciate your cooperation.**
MILK CAPS FOR MOOLA
We are collecting Longmont Dairy Milk Caps again this year. There is a box near the front office desk where you can deposit them. Thank you!
SPIRIT WEAR
Customizable Spirit Wear is always available at Schmancy Tees and Gifts. Orders take about two weeks and are delivered right to your child’s classroom.
Do you love Copper Mesa as much as we do? Then let the world know, too! Post a review on GreatSchools.org!
