2019-2020 Announcement
We are pleased to announce several new positions for the upcoming year at CCA!
Athletic Director and Coach: Jason Williams will begin his position as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach July 1, 2019. He will also be the Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach (Mrs. Gail Forster to assist with girls), the Head JV Boys’ Basketball Coach, and the Head Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach (KC Cunningham to assist with boys). Coach Williams is retiring from South Lamar School in Alabama after 25 years of teaching, coaching, and administration to include Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He earned his BS degree from the University of Alabama in Comprehensive Social Science and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of West Alabama. He started his career as a secondary history teacher. He has also coached girls’ softball, girls’ basketball, and JV and Varsity football. He considers it a true honor to have served for the past 25 years in the role of teacher, coach, and administrator at his school alma mater. Coach Williams is married and has two children (ages 23 and 27) He is actively involved as a deacon in the Vernon Church of Christ. Coach Williams is excited about returning to coaching and looks forward to interacting with all of our students, but especially our student-athletes.
Strength & Conditioning and Assistant Football Coach: Mr. Steve Kemp will work alongside Coach Williams as the Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Football Coach. Mr. Kemp has continued his summer weightlifting program with our football players, and we are so appreciative of his faithfulness to our students and the team.
Secondary Science Teacher: We welcome Cecil Jones as our new upper level science teacher! He is an experienced executive with over thirty years of demonstrated technical and business success across numerous industries. He has a strong technical background in chemistry and physics, with a BS in Physics and Exploration Geophysics (UCLA) and 10 years in scientific research and development. He earned a Business Administration (MBA) from Mississippi State University. With this background, he has over 22 years of experience in Aerospace and other Hi-Tech industries in all aspects of business operations, strategic planning, program management of large programs, change and risk management, business development, proposal management, negotiation, communication, and training. Mr. Jones will be teaching Trig/Pre-Cal, Chemistry, Advanced Biology, Physical Science, and a STEM class. He and his wife attend Vibrant Church. Mr. Jones is ready to meet our students and share his knowledge with them!
Fine Arts Class: This year we will offer a Performing Arts class for our students to earn a Fine Arts credit. We are so blessed to have Mrs. Tennille Komulainen as the instructor! Tennille has been a faithful parent volunteer at CCA. This past year she helped Coach Cochran with the drama in our Elementary Musical. Tennille has a degree in Performing Arts from Western Kentucky University and a degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University. This new course will serve students with various interests (techniques of acting and public speaking; segments on set, lighting, sound, and costume design, stage management; and script writing). Tennille and her husband, along with their two children, attend Vibrant Church. They also serve in their Christian peer group on base.
Middle School Teacher: Emily Cook will join us this year as a middle school teacher of 7th & 8th Bible and 7th & 8th History classes. She will also be our yearbook sponsor. Ms Cook graduated from the University of North Alabama with a BS in history. She is currently an active member of Temple Baptist in Myrtle, MS. She will be moving to the Columbus area this summer and plans to attend Vibrant Church.
