Summer Reading Challenge in Progress!
Questions & Answers
Q: Where do I go to sign up my child for summer reading?
A: Please enroll your child at Evanced; registration will only take a few minutes.
Q: What qualifies as summer reading?
A: Any literature activity or event will qualify, from reading a book to writing a book. Please read the welcome letter of your child's summer reading list for suggestions.
Q: When completing the log online, what information am I entering?
A: You are entering the number of minutes spent on your child's literature activity. It could be 240 minutes spent reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, or 60 minutes engaged in a reading class. Your family decides what those literature activities are.
Q: How many minutes does my child need to get a free dress day?
A: That will depend on what grade your student enters in Fall 2016, and how much time they wish to spend on literature activities this summer. Again, read your child's summer reading list for complete information.
Q: We like the reading list you provided, but are we limited to only this list?
A: The grade-level summer reading list are merely suggestions of great books released in the last two years. Your family may select any books you wish for the Summer Reading Challenge - freedom of choice reigns supreme during summer!
Q: We are having technical difficulties with Evanced. Can you help us out?
A: Of course! I am available most Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer via email. You may contact me at summerreading@mayfieldjs.org and share what you need assistance with.
Q: How do you make a reading log entry online?
A: Please read and view the four-step example below. I opened a 4th grade account for the purpose of this demonstration.
