Decision-Making Month

Wednesday, March 13 @ 9:00am
Stop by for this interactive session to help explore options and understand the role between majors and careers.
Career Readiness Tip of the Month--Majors Don't Dictate Your Career
Choosing your major still is an important decision. It shapes what courses you will take during your time at William & Mary. Just remember that your career path is open, and it may take you in places that you were not expecting! No matter what major you chose, the skills you learn will help you in whatever career you end up in.
Questions With Cohen--What resources does the Cohen Career Center have to help me prepare for an interview?
Career Competency of the Month-Global/Intercultural Fluency
Each month, we’ll take a look at one of eight Career Competencies determined to be most highly sought by employers. You can learn more about these through mycareer.wm.edu.
Global/Intercultural Fluency
- Value, respect, and learn from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and religions
- Demonstrate openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences
Do you embrace your differences with others?
Are you making an effort to learn about the values and beliefs of cultures different from your own?
Check out mycareer.wm.edu for all online resources.
TribeCareers Tip of the Month--How to Use Big Interview
With the summer fast approaching, you might be in the full swing of your summer internship search. March is right around the time you may be getting some interviews with potential employers. Big Interview is a tool offered through the Cohen Career Center that gives you a great way to practice your interview skills! One great feature is the practice video interview. With this a prerecorded interviewer will ask you questions and you will respond on camera. You can then go back anytime to rewatch yourself and see what you can improve on. Here are the steps to use that feature:
- First, you will have to register. You can click here to get started on that.
- Once logged on, you will have many options you can chose from. You can select the practice tab to go to this particular tool.
- You can select an interviewer based on industry, difficulty level, or many other features depending on what you are looking for.
- Once you select an interviewer, a screen will pop up and you will have the opportunity to do your practice interviewer.
- Big Interview will save this interview and you can go back and watch it at anytime.
This is just one of the many tools offered by the Cohen Career Center to help you prep for interviews. Check out TribeCareers or the Cohen Career Center Website to see what other resources we offer!
