Semester Exam Information
95% Exemption (CLICK HERE to Fill out Form for this Exemption)
A student who maintains a solid "A" (at least a 95% average) in a class during a semester will be exempt from taking just one exam of their choosing. The skipped exam must be from a class with at least a 95% average.
Exemplary Attendance Exemption (CLICK HERE to Fill out Form for this Exemption).
A student who maintains exemplary attendance for a semester may elect to miss one-semester exam of his/her choosing with no penalty to his/her grade. Exemplary attendance is defined as:
Missing no more than one and a half (1.5) days or three (3) half days in a semester
For example: if you miss 2 days (even with a doctor's note), you are NOT eligible to skip an exam.
Every two (2) "lates" (tardy to school or early dismissal) equals a half day
Students are marked either a whole day absent, half day absent, or late
The absence(s) must be excused - students with unexcused absences are not eligible for this exemption.
Students with 4 or more class tardies in total to a class are NOT for this exemption.
Students who were suspended for any reason during the semester are NOT eligible for this exemption.
Exceptions: Attending funerals, court appearances, events, and college visits (juniors and seniors only) will not count against exemplary attendance.
PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME YOU ARE SKIPPING AN EXAM UNLESS THE OFFICE/TEACHER CONFIRMS IT!

Judith Herb College of Education Scholarship
The University of Toledo is now accepting applications for scholarships specifically for high school seniors who want to become teachers.
The Judith Herb College of Education is fortunate to have a strong alumni base who support our students. With over 50 endowed scholarships just for education majors, we annually award funds to over 140 students. These college scholarships are on top of any merit and university-level awards. We invite your seniors to apply for scholarships for the 2019-20 school year, so they can be one of our award winners!
Women In Engineering
The Women in Engineering Program at The University of Akron is pleased to host a visit day for any high school girl interested in Engineering on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. A flyer with the details of the day is below. Registration can be done online at www.uakron.edu/wie and the ½ day includes breakfast and is free to all who would like to visit the campus.
In addition, I have also included a flyer for the Women in Engineering high school summer camp for girls. The registration opens on March 1st and is competitive but slots are filled first come, first served.
Success Period Presentation Sign Ups
We are excited to offer new and innovative experiences for our junior high and high school students. We are inviting professionals such as yourself to come interact with our students as an opportunity to engage them in real-world work experiences through the eyes of an expert. This will be a forty minute experience for our students in which you can present information that would be beneficial as they begin to explore their career options. Things to consider during the presentation would be educational requirements, expectations as they enter the workforce, experiences they can anticipate in your career field. What we are aiming for are real conversations between working adults and our students.
We are so excited to share our students with you so that you might be able to inspire a few and not only educate students about their career interests but to also maybe inspire them to follow your career path!
We want to give our students an idea of what your job entails, but also to tell them how you got to where you are. What the future job market looks like? What certifications and credentials are needed? I have included below a list of suggested essential questions that can be used to guide your discussions but please do not think that you are limited to these.
Sample questions that may be asked by students:
Describe your typical workday and workweek. Is it 40 hours? More?
What skills are most important to you in your work?
What interests did you have which led you to this field of work?
What education, training, certification, licensure, advanced degrees or credentials do you need to do your work?
What employment path did you take that led you to where you are now?
What is the employment outlook for your line of work?
What challenges do you face in your work?
We have put a calendar together for you to choose a date that works best for you. You may choose to talk to Junior High Students (grades 6-8) or High School Students (grades 9-12). Simply click on the building below that you would like to share your experiences with and select a date that fits in your schedule. You will enter in the front of the High School and someone from the office will walk you down to the room.

General Lunchroom Information
To better assist our parents, we have implemented an online free and reduced meal application. This will eliminate having to get a paper application, filling it out and returning it to your child’s school.
Fill out the online application under www.lunchapplication.com, just as you would the paper application. Once the application is completed we are notified so we can complete the application process. This will reduce your notification time.
Please make sure you have a correct mailing address on the application, so the notification letter gets to you.

Pay It Forward
We will be once again helping our students out with our Food Service Pay It Forward Project. This fund will provide meals to students who do not have lunch money in their account and cannot charge anymore. We want all of our students to get a hot meal every day. If you are interested in helping with this project you can send money into the central office or any of the buildings. Just put Food Service Pay It Forward on the envelope. You can make checks payable to the Otsego BOE. Thank you so much!!

Student Council
Knight in Shining Armour
Please use the following form to inform OHS Student Council about a family in need within the school district. While the family does not need to have students in the district, we do ask that they are a member of the Otsego Community. Use this form to share information about their current situation as well as how they can best be assisted.
Please be sure to understand that while Knight in Shining Armor (KISA) would love to help all community members in need, we are still a new program, and may not have the funds to do so. With that being said, we will consider each request on a case by case basis. Filling this form out does not guarantee that we will be able to assist the family, but we will try our hardest to do so!
Here are some things that we have done with KISA funds:
- School supplies were purchased for multiple families.
- Gas money has been provided to get to and from medical treatment.
- Food cards have been provided to help families afford meals while going through medical treatment.
- Cash donations have been made to families to help assist in paying bills during medical treatment.
- Gift cards and supplies have been provided to help make ends meet after housing emergencies have occurred.
We now have TWO ways that you can nominate a family in need. Bookmark the link below to use as the need arises. You can also find this link on the Otsegoknights.org webpage under the "District" tab.
Please do not hesitate to nominate a family in need, and KISA will do their best to help out!
