The Importance of School Attendance
Research has proven that there is a high correlation between school attendance and academic performance and success, while absence from school is the greatest single cause of poor performance and achievement.
Texas State Compulsory Attendance Laws require that all children between the ages of 6 and 19 attend school each day that school is in session. School officials are required to enforce the State Compulsory Attendance Laws. Parents/Guardians will be notified when his/her child has three or more unexcused absences within a four week period.
We understand that there are times when children are sick or have a legitimate reason for being absent. However, if your child is sick and will not be at school, you will need to call the school office to let them know of the absence. When your child returns to school, they will need to bring a note to the office signed by the parent explaining the reason for the absence. If the child does not bring a signed note, the absence will be classified as unexcused.
In addition, early pick-ups and last minute changes to child pick-ups are significantly increasing. Teachers plan lessons all the way to the end of the school day. Please try to ensure that students stay until the end of the day. In order to make sure every child gets home safely, we ask that minimum changes to pick-up plans occur at the end of the day.
It is essential that parents/guardians model the value of education, including the importance of regular attendance. Please make sure that your child attends school each day and arrives on time. This will establish a great habit that will carry throughout their lifetime.
We appreciate your support.

One of the grants the Pottsboro ISD Education Foundation was excited to hand out this Fall was an award of $5,000 that will go towards the new Agriculture Science Greenhouse. The funds from the Pottsboro ISD Education Foundation will be combined with the school district funds to purchase and construct a Peak style Greenhouse laboratory to be used by Pottsboro Agriculture Sciences students. The greenhouse will be used to educate agriculture students on plants and plant growth, as well as sales techniques and communication skills through a retail plant sale.
The Education Foundation is always supportive of grants which provide solid career opportunities for our students at Pottsboro ISD. The proposed greenhouse construction plan is below:
