Student Assistance Program
Caron’s Student Assistance Program can provide comprehensive behavioral health assessments for students in 5th-12th grade. Students can be recommended by a school’s Student Assistance Program Core Team or at the request of a parent.
Following written parental permission, Caron’s Student Assistance Program Specialists will meet with a student individually to complete the confidential assessment which will focus on issues related to substance abuse, mental health, and any other areas of concern in a young person’s life. Upon completion of the comprehensive assessment, the Caron SAP Specialist will work with the family to make recommendations designed to support the student in addressing the identified stressors. The Caron SAP Specialist will provide support to the school and family in their efforts to implement the recommendations.
Assessments can also be arranged privately for any parent concerned about their teen. It is the parent’s decision if they would like their child’s school to be part of this process.
For questions about the SAP process, please contact your school counselor.

What's Trending - Counterfeit Pills
Message from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA):
Today, the country is facing an unprecedented opioid crisis that has already cost more than 100,000 lives in a single year, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Fentanyl, the main driver for over 60% of these deaths, is a synthetic opioid being used illegally to produce counterfeit drugs that are lethal. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), criminal drug networks are mass-producing fake pills and falsely marketing them as legitimate prescription pills to deceive the American public. These pills are easy to purchase, widely available, often contain fentanyl or methamphetamine, and can be deadly. Fake prescription pills are easily accessible and often sold on social media and e-commerce platforms, making them available to anyone with a smartphone, including minors. We encourage you to download our new “What’s Trending?” to learn more about the dangers of counterfeit pills.

New Suicide Prevention Number coming soon
The transition to 988 is ‘not optional,’ according to the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline has been in operation since 2005 and is funded by HHS. Callers currently reach the critical 24/7 national hotline by phoning the 10-digit number: 1-800-273-8255 (TALK). Starting July 16, the FCC will establish 988 as an easy-to-remember three-digit dialing code for suicide prevention and mental health crises. Calls to that number will be redirected to 1-800-273-8255, which will stay operational during and after the 988 transition.
