5th-8th Grade STEM Opportunities
There are two upcoming opportunities for 5th-8th grade students. iSpace Education Committee will be hosting two events.
The first is a FREE STEM event for girls in Grades 5-8 on Friday, April 28th at 6-8pm. The "Building Blocks of the World Around You" event is hosted by GE at their Aviation Learning Center. Students will join the materials engineers at GE Aerospace to experience how the materials work that make up our world. They will also find out about the physics behind different materials like metals, polymers, and composites -- including how they break. Students will then have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned about materials to a design challenge. While students are engaged in this STEM learning opportunity, parents/guardians/teachers are invited to attend a special parallel program, "Supporting Girls in STEM," during the event.

The second is a camp called, ART-gineering, for 6th-8th grade students. ART-gineering Camp Grades 6-8. The focus is having STEM and artistry intersect. Students tap into their creativity to conceptualize and design innovative ideas and inventions. The weeklong camp is packed with hands-on activities where they learn special drawing techniques and showcase amazing inspirations by building beautiful prototype models. Whether they want to design a bridge, home, toy, or something brand new, students will use the engineering design process to bring their ideas to life.

6th Grade Reds Field Trip
The 6th grade students and teachers are psyched to be heading back to GAPB/Reds Museum for our spring field trip after a COVID hiatus! Permission slips went home last Thursday. Please include the $9.00 payment when sending back the signed permission slip by Friday, May 5. Students will be asked to wear their class T-shirts that day as well. Thank you to the PTSA for their assistance in helping to make this an affordable outing for all students.
LMS Fall Sports
Attention current 6th and 7th-grade parents that have a student that is interested in playing sports at Loveland Middle School for the 2023-24 school year...
It is time to sign up for those teams in Final Forms! This is not a full commitment, but rather showing interest in the sports.
Please see the attached document for step-by-step guidance on how to complete this process.
Also - Mark your calendars for Monday, May 15th @ 6:00 pm. We will be having a Fall sports preview night in the LMS Gymnasium. This will allow you and your student-athlete to hear about the Fall sports at LMS as well as hear directly from coaches about summer programming and the start of the season. We hope you can attend!

5th Grade Zoo Trip
We are excited to bring back the 5th grade zoo field trip.
The 5th grade classes will be going to the Cincinnati Zoo on Friday, May 12, 2023.
Students will be leaving school around 8:35 AM and returning at 1:45 PM. All students will need to have a packed lunch in a disposable bag and a drink for the day. A small sling bag/backpack is great for carrying their lunch, drink, and any other weather appropriate items (rain coat, hat, etc). Coordinating with school policy, technology should remain at home or in the student's locker.
The cost of the field trip is $8.00, which includes admission to the zoo and busing.
We can accept checks or cash.
Student admission cost is due Friday, May 5th.
Chaperones: We will be needing chaperones to go on the field trip. We are limited to six chaperones per class. Please email your student's homeroom teacher if you are able to chaperone. If you are willing to be a chaperone for the day, the cost is $8.00.
Please do not pay for your chaperone admission at this time. Teachers will send confirmation of parents who will be chaperones, then your zoo admission will be sent in with your student.
Please reach out to your homeroom teacher with any questions.
