Invented During The Renaissance
The Submarine : By Brayden Griffith
What Is The Invention?
The Submarine is a vehicle that has many purposes ranging from exploring new species and lands beneath the earth's oceans and or military purposes to know the location of the enemy and launch a surprise attack. As any vehicle or technology it has changed greatly over large time periods.
Who Invented It?
Leonardo Da Vinci was the inventor of the submarine during the Renaissance time period. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most famous people of the Renaissance era because he specialized in many different professions and designed/invented many machines that were considered way ahead of his time period including the submarine, helicopter, and tank.
Who Brought The Design To Life
Although Leonardo Da Vinci was technically the first person to invent the submarine most credit goes to a Dutchman named Cornelis Drebbel. He was seemed to have built the first working submarine. It wasn't until later that it was started to be used for military purposes by other kingdoms. The submarine he built was built in the year of 1620.
The Invention During The Renaissance
Even though Leonardo Da Vinci invented many famous contraptions that we use all the time today he never shared his inventions with the pubic and most were never built or used. Even so it is outstanding how someone so long ago could have invented all these machines that would evolve and still be used today.
The Invention In Today's World
The submarine has been used lots through out history for many different things. Like most technologies it has even found itself being used during military operations. In the year of 1776 the Americans prepared to launch there submersible vehicle to attach a bomb of some sort to the hull of the British Admiral Richard Howe's flagship Eagle in the New York Harbor. Over time submarines have evolved to have different technologies within themselves like sonar detection to be able to locate other vehicles in the area.
