UW-Madison Summer Programs
Badger Precollege offers high school students the opportunity to learn more about college life and academics, gain valuable experience in independence, and pursue new and growing passions. It is an opportunity to invest in your students'future, both inside and outside the classroom.
Here are just a few programs and classes that may be an excellent fit for your students:
Badger Summer Scholars | July 21–Aug. 2
- Philosophy of Law — How did the law come to be? Can morality and law be separate, or should they be closely linked? Through research, discussion and maybe even a little debate, we'll analyze fundamental concepts of legal systems and negotiate the settlement of philosophy versus reality.
Veterinary and Animal Science — Are you interested in pre-vet studies or animal sciences? Through discussion, classroom exercises and labs, you'll learn about the complex relationships between humans, animals and the environment. Plus, we'll explore the many career and education opportunities for working with animals.
Elections Have Consequences — The 2024 presidential election cycle offers a unique moment to reassess why and how "elections have consequences" in American politics. In this class, we'll meet with guest speakers who are experts in elections and politics and examine the key policies and players (including candidates, media, interest groups and governmental officials) central to the 2024 election cycle.
Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) | June 30–July 20
- Forensic Science — Learn to collect, analyze and interpret physical and biological trace evidence such as fingerprints, hair, fibers and DNA. This laboratory-based course will allow you to use logical thought processes and scientific inquiry skills to interpret evidence and analyze criminal psychology.
Environmental Studies — Explore different social science approaches to interpreting the relationship between the environment and society at various scales, from local to global. This course traces the social origins of environmental concerns, their social impacts and the different responses they engender.
Summer Arts Clinic | June 30–July 6
