About North Central ESD
North Central ESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts and state-approved private schools in Washington. ESDs are an essential regional delivery system for K-12 services in the state. We create regional efficiencies, improve the effectiveness of educational programs, deliver vital services otherwise unavailable, and bring millions of dollars in new funding to schools in our state.

Lisa Snyder, 2015 Regional Teacher of the Year, honored at Eastmont Board meeting
NCESD Superintendent Rich McBride presented Lisa Snyder, teacher at Lee Elementary/Eastmont, with a plaque December 15 for her distinction as 2015 NCESD Regional Teacher of the Year. Lisa was featured as guest columnist in the winter edition of Educational Connections, sharing an article "Witnessing the Dawn" about her teaching experience.
GWATA seeking nominations for two different awards
The Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance (GWATA) is seeking nominations from YOU for "Future Technology Leader" (for students age K-12) and "Innovative Use of Technology in the Classroom" (for K-12 teachers from Chelan, Douglas, Grant or Okanogan Counties). New Partnership for the NCESD Educational Foundation
The Community Foundation of NCW and the Woods Family Music & Arts Fun have partnered with the ESD Foundation to provide a new category for the Foundation's Teacher Classroom Grants entitled "STEAM." Added to STEM is the concept of art/music, resulting in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). Please see NCESD headlines for more information at www.ncesd.org. This category has been added to the ESD Foundation Teacher Grant application.
Washington State Legislature is now taking Page applications
During each week of the legislative session, approximately 35 students ages 14 to 16 from across the state serve as legislative pages. It is a great opportunity to learn about the Legislature’s role, its process, and its participants. Go to the NCESD website headlines at www.ncesd.org to read more. NCESD Educational Foundation elects officers and welcomes new Board members
Congratulations to Ray Allen for his election as 2015 President of the NCESD Foundation Board - and welcome to Kerrie Combs and Rufus Woods, new ESD Foundation Board members! Jan Cetto was elected Vice-President; Bill Baldwin as Secretary; and Jim Adamson as Treasurer. Congratulations to all!
Kerrie Combs, new ESD Foundation representative from Okanogan County
Kerrie Combs from Tonasket was recently welcomed as an Okanogan County representative to the NCESD Educational Foundation. She is currently working as a paraeducator at Tonasket School District. While living in Wenatchee, Kerrie served as United Way Board President, as well as on the Good Grief Board.
Rufus Woods, new Board member from Chelan County
Rufus Woods, third generation editor/ publisher of The Wenatchee World, is a welcome new member of the ESD Foundation Board. Rufus graduated from Wenatchee HS, earned a BA from the University of Puget Sound and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. In a career that began during the days of hot metal production, he has worked in every department of the newspaper. His community service includes the WA Special Olympics as a coach and volunteer, Mission Vista Group Homes and the YMCA.
Congratulations to Ray Allen, 2015 ESD Foundation Board President
Ray Allen, General Manager of Olive Garden in East Wenatchee, is newly-elected President of the NCESD Educational Foundation. He lives in East Wenatchee with his wife and two sons. Congratulations, Ray!
