Sexual Harassment and Assault-- Response and Education
May 2020
Staff in the Skorton Center for Health Initiatives (working remotely) remain committed to the health and well-being of the Cornell community. Providing information and maintaining connection can help mitigate the negative impacts of being separated from friends, peers, extended family and loved ones during this challenging time.
This newsletter was designed to provide a space for timely information and updates about sexual harassment, assault, stalking, and dating and domestic violence. It will also offer some positive ideas for prevention and tips for building healthy relationships. We hope this outreach will be of interest to those of you committed to building a safer Cornell community, no matter where you are currently residing at this time.

Quick tips for building & maintaining healthy relationships: Communication
- Good communication means being able to share your thoughts, needs, and concerns, openly. It requires trust and can strengthen your bond.
- Communicate constructively-- in a way that seeks to understand your partner’s perspective, not to persuade them of your own.
- Everyone disagrees, especially under stress. It’s how you as a couple express those conflicts that counts. Being able to voice your dissent without feeling dismissed, negated, or bulldozed is crucial to a healthy relationship.
And remember, if you need support or resources, connect with a Cornell victim advocate.
