Creston Community News
Final Newsletter of the School Year!
From the Principal
CIMS Families -
What an interesting year it has been! From delaying the start of the school year, to most students attending school every other day on a hybrid schedule, to closing school for awhile and having all students attend school virtually, and on top of it all - wearing masks and social distancing all the time! We have been through so much this year and I am so proud of our students and staff for their hard work.
We were so grateful to have the opportunity to send our students in the Class of 2025 on to the next part of their journey in high school with a school-wide clap out. We will miss our 8th graders, but we can’t wait to witness all their successes in the future!
To all Creston students, families, and staff members - THANK YOU for an awesome year. I hope you will use this summer to reflect on this unique year, to rest and rejuvenate, and to enjoy your time. Stay well!
TEXTBOOK RETURN for VIRTUAL 5th & 8th GRADERS:
If you have a current grade 5 or grade 8 VIRTUAL student, you are asked to return their hard-cover textbooks or novels if you have them. Grade 5 virtual students have two Wonders reading textbooks that are hardback, and Grade 8 virtual students may have novels to return. You can visit the CIMS office any school day from 9am - 4pm to turn in your child’s books. Textbooks will need to be returned no later than June 4. After that date, we will not have office staff on campus to receive books. Again, all students should keep their chromebooks this summer.
SUMMER READING:
Summer is here and we are excited to share our 1st Virtual Summer Reading Adventure! This virtual summer read is a six week reading challenge where students are being asked to share where they are reading. Each week has a different theme. Here is the link for information about the summer reading and where to find online books. I can’t wait for our summer reading adventure to begin! #WarrenReads

Creston Mascot Update: Your Feedback Needed!
Since Creston first opened in 1964, our mascot has been the Creston Indians. Two years ago, we began using the Creston "C" as the main image to accompany our school name. You can see our current school seal to the right. This image will remain into the future, regardless of what our new mascot will be.
As time has gone on, our school community has determined it is time to adopt a new CIMS mascot that is welcoming and respectful as we represent the diversity of our students and community. Students had the opportunity (during CORE Connect class) to brainstorm potential new mascot ideas. We would now like to ask for feedback from students, parents/caregivers, and the CIMS Community. Please consider completing the linked form to offer your feedback!
