Yersinia Pestis
Better known as the black death/Bubonic plague. The yersinia pestis is a small rounded rod shape with extremely bumpy on the outside.
How to get Bubonic Plague
The bubonic plague is passed on from small rodents like rats, mice, squirrels and weasels carry this virus. These animals carry fleas that are infected, people get exposed from flea bites or contact with the infected animal.
Symptoms
Symptoms include chills, fever, swollen lymph nodes, weakness, muscle pains, general discomfort, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
Treatment
To treat the Black Death several classes of antibiotics are effective. People infected should be given antibiotics within the first 24 hours to prevent death
Prevention
To prevent getting this virus don't handle wild dead animals, avoid contact with rodents, avoid insect bites and/or stings, use insect repellents on skin and clothes, check for insects after being outdoors, and treat your pets for fleas and ticks.
