Spring is in the Air-Mrs. Miller's Art Classes
Spring is here and that means lots of opportunities to showcase our talented art students! This weekend the Valley Heights High School art students have been invited to display their artwork at the Lee Dam Art Center in Marysville. A Letter from Mr. Savage
We have wrapped up the home game basketball schedule with our final game this past Monday night. The Lady Mustangs moved on in Sub-state with a 60-26 win over Republic County! We would like to congratulate some groups for making our home games something we can be proud of here at Valley Heights. The student pep section rocked it this year with their theme nights and they supported our Mustangs in a very loud and positive manner! The pep band, under the direction of Ms. Brooklyn Coleman, was outstanding night after night! Our dance group, The Mustang Magic, always had something planned for our fans each night and performed brilliantly! Their sponsor is Ms. Nikki Stoudt. Our cheer squad, under the direction of Mrs. Katlen Schreiner and Mrs. Ali Holmes, kept everyone on their feet leading the cheers and supporting the Mustangs! Our staff and community groups who helped with the score clock, scorebook, took gate and ran concession stands as well as Scott Blaske – the Voice of the Mustangs! And finally – you the fans and supporters of Mustang athletics. You fill the gym every night with your presence and enthusiasm! At the start of the season we asked for your help limiting the number of students we had running in the commons during games and that issue was settled by the very next home game! We thank you for your assistance! We now set our eyes on the next part of the season – Sub-state and the State tournament!!
Parents – we need your help! You will find a link for a Family Engagement Survey on the USD 498 webpage! We would like you to take a few minutes to fill out the survey for your family members that attend Valley Heights Jr./Sr. High School. You only need to complete the survey only once, even if you have more than one student in our building. Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Just a reminder that the end of the third nine weeks is just a week away! Once again, I would like to remind our parents to be visiting with your child about grades, missing assignments and any upcoming assignments that will affect their third nine-week grades. We want all of our students to finish on a high note as we head into the final grading period of this school year!
Mrs. Yungeberg and our Junior English class created a mini-museum in her classroom on February 29th. Students brought in memorabilia from World War I and World War II and the room was full! We did invite members to come and visit the exhibit and we did have a few who ventured out to the activity. This project seems to grow each year and we even talked about moving it to a larger area. The exhibit is part of a project in conjunction with the students reading The Diary of Anne Frank. Other books our students read from that time in history include, at various grade levels, are Night by Elie Wiesel and All’s Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque.
We have much to accomplish for this upcoming week as we head for our first break of 2024 so I am cutting my comments short! Let’s go Mustangs!!
Have a great week!
Mr. Savage

Great Season JH Scholar's Bowl
On Tuesday February 27th, our JH Scholars' Bowl team had their last meet of the season at Washington. The season has been tons of fun and I have loved watching every member of the team participate and have fun. Looking forward to next year!
Attention Students and Parents
Grade 9-12 students at Valley Heights must be academically eligible to attend Prom. No exceptions! Eligibility will be determined at the end of the third nine weeks which ends on March 8th.
