Hearne Elementary's Playbook
Week of October 30, 2017
Do your student desks look like this?
Or like this?
Organization is the Key!
With all the classwork, homework, parent conferences, ARDs, team meetings, lesson plans, notebooks, and tests we are inundated with each day, there is one thing in common...PAPER. As we enter the second grading period, take a moment to get organized:
- Ensure your small group areas are tidy and prepared for instruction.
- Organize your textbooks and workbooks so they are easy to access for you and your students.
- Ask your students to clean out their desks and reorganize their materials for learning. Guide them in deciding what goes home and what stays at school.
- Recycle all old papers to free the class of clutter.
- Award students with the most organized desk at the end of each week.
- Assign a student helper to monitor the class for organization. Everyone has at least one student who would be perfect for this job.
Never forget:
You make a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!

Go Team Hearne!
Meet Mrs. Salter in 3rd Grade!
1. Why did you want to become a teacher?
I wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to touch the lives of children! I wanted to be the difference and make the difference in their lives.
2. What wakes you up in the morning excited to take on another day?
It excites me every day that God has given me another opportunity to do it again! To wake up and have my family, my job and an awesome circle of friends that love and care about me keeps me going. To be able to have a job where I am impacting live daily, having kids students all over the campus saying hello to me and wanting a hug those things give me strength and makes it easy to take on another day!
3. What is your favorite memory from adulthood?
I have a few but, the one that is the my all-time favorite is the day I became a mother.
4. Who do you call on when you need help?
1. God
2. My husband
3. My family
4. My pastor
5. My closest friends
5. When I am not at Hearne, I am…
If I am not at Hearne I am at home being a wife and mother, watching reality television, shopping, reading a good book or at church singing on the praise team.

Meet Mrs. Oberg in Kindergarten!
1. Why did you want to become a teacher?
I used to work for Houston Methodist Hospital in their Foundation department and, though I had a lot of fun, I felt called to work with kids. I have grown up loving working with children. My mom was also a kindergarten teacher, so I suppose you could say it’s in the genes.
2. What wakes you up in the morning excited to take on another day?
Most of the time, my puppy kissing me. But what gets me out the door is my awesome Kinder team and students.
3. What is your favorite memory from adulthood?
My favorite memory has been marrying my husband. We got married about 2 years ago and had a big wedding and party with tacos and lots of dancing, my two favorite things.
4. Who do you call on when you need help?
I call my husband or my mom.
5. When I am not at Hearne, I am putting my feet up at home in the fresh air because standing all day is rough.
