A Message from Principal Kennedy
Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s):
Happy New Year! Welcome back, Bayles students and families, to 2024! I hope that you and your family had a restful and enjoyable holiday break.
Now that the holidays are behind us, we come to the heart of our school year. Teachers are conscientiously teaching the content students should know in each grade level and students are learning. Students will be demonstrating their learning as they prepare to move to the next level in their academic careers. Attendance is crucial for optimum learning, and this is a critical time for students to attend every day possible in school. With the many viruses and illnesses that accompany the winter months, please encourage good eating, sleeping habits, and hand washing. If your child becomes ill contact the school to inform us. Contact your child’s teacher for missing assignments.
Parent-teacher conferences are the week of January 22, 2024. Teachers will be ready to provide you with information about your child’s progress this school year.
Our school could not be successful without your input and support. Together we will continue to educate our students and prosper in a new and promising New Year. As always, we thank you for entrusting your children to us, and we look forward to a successful spring semester.
Best Regards,
Gloria Kennedy, Principal

Mental Health Minute From Narghis Moon, Counselor
Dear Bayles Families,
You might be wondering what a “Mental Health Minute” is. This year, you and I are going to take a minute each week this year to talk about how to take care of yourself and how to be the best person you can be! Today, let’s talk about what mental health is. You know what it means to be healthy – to eat right, to get exercise, and to get enough sleep, right? Did you know that your mind can also be healthy, and that you can do things to help your mind be healthy? Eating right, exercising, and sleeping are as important for your mental health as they are for your physical health, but there are other things you can do too. We will talk about what some of those things are this year during our mental health minute together, but for today I’m going to give you a quick thing to do when you are feeling upset. It’s a basic building block for good mental health and it’s as easy as taking a breath. So, let’s all do that together real quick. Breathe in through your nose as if you are smelling brownies, hold it for a second, and breath out slowly through your mouth like you’re blowing out your birthday candles. Do that a couple of times when you feel upset or worried and it will help. I promise.
Have a great week everybody and I’ll see you all after the winter break!
