Momo Challenge
Parents,
You might be aware that of an internet hoax currently trending on social media called the Momo Challenge. In the challenge, the leader, "Momo," who is depicted as a scary woman, pops up in social media sites such as YouTube, or online games such as Fortnite and Minecraft and gives the viewers instructions to participate in challenges including self harm.
Please know that we are working with our students to address any concerns, as they arise, concerning the Momo Challenge. In the meantime, if you hear your child talking about the Momo Challenge, please reiterate that they should not participate, as it is a hoax, and talk to them about their social media presence and use.
Below is a link to the Ohio Department of Education's website with more information should your child be made aware of "Momo."

To the Parent(s) and Guardian(s) of WRJH 6th Grade Students:
During the week of March 4th, all 6th grade students will be participating in a suicide prevention presentation during their Raider period. The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes. The goal of the presentation is to prevent and reduce suicidal behavior by expanding the safety net for students who may be experiencing mental and emotional distress. The information presented will share basic information and videos to help guide discussion. Students will be trained to recognize warning signs of depression and suicide in a friend and will learn how to respond appropriately.
There is clear evidence that using suicide prevention programs lowers the risk of a child making a suicide attempt and does not put the idea in a child’s mind. Talking about depression reduces the stigma of mental health and allows students to understand that there are multiple ways to ask for help and teaches students that they are capable of helping their friends in need of support. Students will have the opportunity to speak to a school counselor or social worker if they are concerned about their own emotional well-being or concerned for a friend.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Knight, school social worker, at amber.knight@reyn.org.

THANK YOU!!!! WRJH PTO's Caring Closet
A HUGE thank you to our students, families, staff and community who donated to the WRJH PTO Caring Closet…we are overwhelmed from the support from each and every one of you who donated from our requested items list! The Caring Closet has been up and running for the last two weeks and so many of our students have been able to shop for their self and their family for items that they need. It has truly been a positive experience for everyone and we have YOU to thank!!
The WRJH Caring Closet is sponsored by PTO and contains hygiene products for students in need. Students are able to confidentially pick items that they need. Our hope is that it will ultimately help with the student’s learning, improve their self-esteem and allow families to feel a small financial burden to be lifted.
Every child should have access to the basic needs of life so that they can focus on their education. At WRJH, 51% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. This means that over half of our study body may struggle to overcome many of the things taken for granted by others such as access to hygiene products, clothing, school supplies or other simple necessities. As a community, if we can assist those who are struggling to keep their focus on education, we will not only be improving the individual lives we touch, we will also be improving our overall community.
We are continuing to accept donations. The following is a list of items that you can contribute to the Caring Closet if you are interested. Items can be dropped off in the WRJH front office. We ask that all items be unopened, full-sized products. If you have questions, please email amber.knight@reyn.org.
Items Requested:
-Shampoo/Conditioner
-Body Wash/Soap
-Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
-Deodorant
-Face Wash
-Lotion
-Chapstick
-Feminine Products
-NO RAZORS OR RAZORBLADES
Yearbook Photos
Students love seeing pictures of themselves and photos they have taken in the yearbook. Josten’s has an app which makes it very easy! The app allows you to upload photos which the staff can then enter in the yearbook. If you have pictures this is a great way to do it, picture of the app is below. They get put on our software nightly. If you have photos from dances, extra curricular activities and more that you would like to share please add them to the app!
Yearbook Staff
Attendance Policies/Information
In compliance with the Ohio General Assembly and House Bill 410, absences are no longer counted as how many days missed, but by how many hours of school missed. Therefore, if a student misses 38 or more hours within a given month, or 65 or more hours within the year, excused or unexcused, we are required to send a letter to notify you of the hours missed. Our notification is not a judgment on the reason for the absence, simply the application of the law. Our team – including your child’s teachers, social worker and building administrators – is here to partner with you on your child’s educational journey.
Please remember that you must report school absences for EACH DAY that your child is absent by contacting Mrs. Bobbi Butler at bbutler@reyn.org or calling 614-501-5700.
