Yellow Jacket Family News
April 1, 2024
Happy Easter Monday! Happy Spring!
Greetings Yellow Jacket Families!!!
I hope this message finds you well-rested and rejuvenated after what I hope was a wonderful spring break and Easter celebration for those who observe. As we return to our school routines, I wanted to take a moment to welcome everyone back. A reminder **We are a UNIFORM SCHOOL!!** Please have on your khaki bottoms and white/black collared shirts on Wednesday!
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our students, families, and staff for your continued dedication and support. Your commitment to education and our school community is truly inspiring, and it is what makes Gwynn Park High School such a special place to learn and grow.
As we enter this new phase of the academic year, I encourage everyone to stay focused on our 3C's: compassion, celebration and consistency! Let's continue to support one another, both inside and outside the classroom, as we work together to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all.
We are entering the last quarter of the year! Seniors will have a shortened time period, with their last day being May 10, 2024. DO NOT WASTE a minute! All of our courses are passable with a "C" letter grade in one quarter.
I also want to remind families to stay connected and informed through our school's communication channels. Whether it's checking the school website for updates, following us on social media, or regularly reviewing emails and newsletters, staying informed is essential to ensure a successful partnership between home and school.
April and May are filled with senior related activities and testing! Please join the Band APP for the class of 2024 to stay up to date will all new information!
Lastly, I want to express my unwavering commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our entire school community. As we navigate the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, please know that we are closely monitoring the situation and following all guidelines and protocols set forth by health authorities to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
Moving forward, if you are called by administration or security to pick up your son/daughter due to an incident, only the parent/guardian of record will be permitted in the building for the administrative conference and pick up. By working together, we can help ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for all.
If you have any concerns, please reach me by email at naima.vinson@pgcps.org. Follow me on Twitter @GPHS_PrinHopVin, and join the band app .
Your Purposeful Principal,
Naima Hopkins-Vinson

Cell Phone/Mobile Device Request
While mobile phones continue to be useful tools in education, they have also become a harmful distraction for many teenage learners during the school day. We are asking all parents to help by exploring ways of implementing parental controls on student mobile devices during school hours. We also ask that you have regular conversations with your children about responsible usage of mobile devices and social media. We will be having ongoing conversations with the community about this throughout the year to promote a safe and healthy learning environment for all.
Please note that TEACHERS ARE PERMITTED TO HAVE NO CELL PHONE POLICIES IN THEIR CLASSROOMS, and students must adhere to these classroom rules.
