General News:
Our first Coffee with the Principal this year is this coming Wednesday, September 18, at 8:35 am in the RMS Library Flyer. Join me in an open and informal forum where we’ll discuss what’s happening at RMS and provide an opportunity to answer any questions you may have. I hope to see you!
Counseling: We will hosting lunchtime activities this week in celebration of Yellow Ribbon Week to empower students to raise awareness about and to prevent teen suicide. We want to encourage students to speak out, know they are not alone, and be able to seek help for themselves and their friends. Please encourage students to wear yellow on Wednesday to spread awareness.
On October 25th Cal State San Marcos will be hosting a free 1-day Youth Caregiver Retreat on the CSUSM campus! Youth caregivers are middle-school and high school students who are providing assistance to a sibling, parent or grandparent because of a physical or mental health problem. If your student is interested in attending please email your counselor.
Club Rush was a blast this week! We had over 15 clubs represented at lunch on Thursday and Friday and tons of students signed up for them. If your student is interested in joining a club there is still time. Most of our clubs are open and students can show up to any meeting. For a list of clubs being offered this year CLICK HERE. If there is a club your student wants to start that we don’t already have, they can come get an application from the counseling office.
If you notice that your student could use a little extra help, our B.L.A.S.T. (Boost Learning After School Tutoring) is now open! B.L.A.S.T. aims to help students succeed in their classes in a fun and supportive environment after school. There is a maximum of 35 students allowed per classroom, so come on over after school before spots will up! Tutoring takes place 3:15pm - 4:15pm. Click here to take a look at the BLAST schedule.
Our award-winning Wildcat yearbook staff is currently taking pre-orders for the 2019-2020 yearbook at 20% off the end-of-the-year price! Support our school by purchasing a yearbook through the front office, our RMS webstore, or www.jostens.com! Click here to see our flyer
Health Office: It's hot out there! The Health Office would like to remind parents to send a refillable water bottle with their student daily. Please help us keep your student healthy and hydrated while on campus.
Safety Reminder: Parents, please remind your students to use the crosswalk when arriving or leaving school. The heavy traffic makes it unsafe for students because drivers may not see them as they cross the street.
Library News: The library opened for student use on Tuesday, September 10. The library is now open before school, after school, and during both lunches. Students can also visit the library during class time with a pass from their teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Westphal at deannawestphal@vistausd.org.
