March Maddness
March and all the maddness it brings has arrived! I want to take a moment to remind you of some important upcoming events. We are approaching the end of the 3rd nine-week grading period, so make sure to stay focused and keep up with your assignments and studies.
The ACT+Writing Assesement is coming up in a few short weeks. This is a crucial opportunitiy for you to showcase your academic skills and potential. I encourage all our Juniors to prepare diligently for this assessment. Remember to utilize resources, practice effectively, and approach the assessment with confidence and determination. As you balance your preparations for the ACT+ Writing assessment with your regular studeies, remember that your hard work and determination will pay off in the long run. Stay focused, stay motivated, and give it your best effort when the assessment day arrives.
I also want to remind you that our much-awaited Spring Break is just around the corner. This break will be a well-deserved opportunity for you to relax, recharge, and spend time with family and friends.
As we enter this new month, let's stay motivated, finish the grading period strong, and prepare to enjoy a rejuvenating spring break. Keep up the great work, stay positive, and make the most of this month!
Best regards,
Mrs. Brewer
New Creative Activities Added
This month, I have added diamond painting to our creative space in the Learning Commons. Diamond painting is a simple and addictive hobby that has taken the crafting world by storm. Creating a sparkling masterpiece is as easy as affixing vibrantly colored resin rhinestones to a self-adhesive canvas with a diamond art kit. The canvas is printed with the design as well as symbols to let you know exactly which color to place in each spot.
A relatively new art form to the craft industry, diamond art has rapidly become a favorite among beginner and experienced hobbyists alike. It does not require any special skills, and anyone can make beautiful diamond artworks that shimmer, sparkle and shine when they paint with diamonds. If you have not ever tried diamond painting, you need to come and check it out. I have several patterns for you to choose from. Once you finish your design, it is yours to keep.
Check it Out!
Need a brain break. Click the link and enjoy a room full of fun. Make some music, practice breathing techniques and so much more!
Learning Commons Design Space
Come check out our Design Space in the LC. We have had a couple of makers come in and get creative. This space is for ALL students! You do not have to be a master designer to give it a try. Below I've given you some things to remember when planning out a design.
Using the Cricut Maker to design?
Make sure you have your own Cricut Design Space account. This part can be accomplished anywhere you have access to the Design Space. For example you can use the app on your phone, download the software onto your laptop or home computer, or come in and use the software on the design space computer. Remember, not all designs are free in this software. However, there is plenty to choose from if you do not want to spend any extra money.
Printing a Sublimation Design for application?
There are several helpful videos on youtube that will walk you through the process of printing sublimation designs. Remember that sublimation designs are more vibrant and last longer when using fabric that is no less than 65% polyester. Will it work on fabrics that are less than this? YES, it just might not be as vibrant when the transfer takes place. It might also fade more quickly over time and washing cycles than an item that is 65% or more polyster.
Do you have to use the Cricut Design Space for sublimation? No, that is not neccessary for every sublimation design. You can find designs to purchase and download just as easy as you can create your own design.
Want to work with Vinyl transfer?
You can do that as well using the Cricut Maker Machine. With this, you will need to use the Cricut Design Space to lay out your image or text. I am very limited on my vinyl selection. You might want to come in and check out what I have to offer while you are planning your design. Remember, if I don't have it you will have to supply it. Again, just like the sublimation tutorials, there are a plethera of good helpful videos that will guide you through vinyl selection, designing, and then cuting and transfering your design.

March Book/Author Feature
It is March and in the library world that means Read Across America and the beloved Author/Character Dr. Seuss. This year, Dr. Seuss' birthday falls on a Saturday. We will not be in school to celebrate, but I would like to acknowledge his birthday, March 2nd, and the importance of his contribution to literacy world wide. People all over the world will be celebrating their love of reading during Read Across America Week (March 4th-8th).
This month, I have chosen to feature Dr. Seuss and his colleciton of stories. Believe it or not, our library does have copies of Dr. Seuss' most beloved titles. Please come in this month and sit and enjoy some of these!
I am currently working on another book order for our Library. If you have any titles that you’d like to see added, please use this form to send in suggestions. Be prepared to give a review of the book !
One quick reminder, please don't forget to sign in when you enter the LC. This sign in book is a way for me to help you. It gives me an idea of who comes in during the day and what the purpose for the visit is. It also is an easy way for me to verify your visit when a teacher ask me if you came into the library.
