If you have a student currently enrolled in our ML Program, registration for that summer program is already open. Sign your child up soon for both programs as classes are limited in size.
Mrs. Hein has some important information about strep throat and stomach viruses so keep reading to see some of the symptoms we've been seeing here at Ivy Hill. Keep washing your hands and covering your cough!
Our 5th grade students are entering into their final months at Ivy Hill...and now the fun really begins! Keep reading to keep yourself "in the know" for all the 5th grade fun!
A quick reminder to call into the office when your child is absent, late or leaving early - we hate to have to track you down!! It's easy, keep reading to see what to do!
Spring Break is coming - March 27-31! If you plan to leave early, please let the office know ahead of time.
Enjoy your weekend!
As always - Stay safe, stay kind and stay courageous!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR NURSE, MRS. HEIN
Hello Ivy families~
We are seeing an uptick in upper respiratory and stomach illness as well as multiple strep throat cases. I thought it might be helpful to include some information this week as you navigate common childhood illnesses.
Upper respiratory virus symptoms can include: runny nose, cough, sore throat and fever. Rest, good nutrition and hydration will be the best medicine.
Strep throat symptoms typically include sore throat with red tonsils (often white spots on tonsils), headache, stomach ache or vomiting. Scarlet fever is an illness caused by a strep infection. It causes a red, bumpy rash that spreads over most of the body and is treated with antibiotics. Red blotches are the first sign of the rash. These turn into a fine pink-red rash that feels like sandpaper to touch and looks like sunburn. It may also be itchy. For strep throat or scarlet fever, your child should see a healthcare professional to be diagnosed and prescribed an antibiotic after a lab test diagnosis. An unidentified skin rash could be the sign of a contagious disease and a child should either be kept home from school until the rash has been gone for 24 hours or until a physician has examined the child and determined that they can return to school.
Stomach illness typically does not have a fever (or low-grade) and includes abdominal pain, vomiting and/or diarrhea and usually lasts no more than 48 hours. It comes on quickly and goes quickly!
For all of the above, when your child is without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours from the last episode and feeling better, they may return to school. If diagnosed with strep or scarlet fever they may return to school 24 hours after beginning antibiotic treatment and feeling better.
Please let us know if you have any questions as always–we are happy to help!
5th GRADE FUN!
There are lots of fun events coming up for our 5th grade students as we enter into their final stretch here at Ivy Hill! Check this spot each week and we'll keep you up to date on all their activities!
THE 5TH GRADE SLIDESHOW will be played at the end of the 5th grade musical show. The slide show committee is looking for photos (individual and group) from Kindergarten to 5th grade taken during any school event. Please send the photos separated by grade and labeled appropriately. You can include multiple years in one email, but each grade needs to be in its own folder and clearly labeled. Alternatively, you can send separate emails for each grade, with the subject line indicating the grade.
Additionally, the committee would like a baby picture of each child in the 5th grade.
Please send your photos to: ivyhillclassof2023@gmail.com. The deadline is 5/1/23.
If you have questions, please contact your 5th grade committee:
Caroleen Guiwargis, Denise Wagner and Joelle Vena

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
Rules for Afternoon Pick-Up
All students (except for those who ride the bus) exit from the front of the school.
When arriving for pick up in your car, please yield at the 3-way stop and keep the street/parking lot intersections clear. Also, keep the sidewalk and crosswalks clear.
Pull into the parking lot using the Burke/Ivy Entrance closet to the school: right lane- for student pick-up only; left lane- for parking lot entrance
There is additional parking on the other side of the drive-thru fire lane, past the fence line. It is the far right lane along the curb. Cars cannot be in the fire lane, yellow striped area, or park on the end caps. (See map.)
Cars in the right lane waiting to pick up children should pull up as far as the main entrance crosswalk. Please do not wait on or past the crosswalk.
Students must enter from the passenger side only. Adults must remain in vehicles.
Students should only use the main crosswalks, if they are meeting parents in the parking lot. They should also wait for an adult to tell them when it is okay to cross.
Please continue forward in the pick-up lane if the car in front of you has picked up his/her child and is exiting. If your child does not exit from the building, please pull into the parking lot and come to the office.
Once you’ve picked up your child, you may pull into the left lane and exit the parking lot if it is safe to do so. Drivers please look both ways.
Right turn only out of the parking lot from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Students riding the bus will be picked up in the back entrance of the school. Other students may not be picked up from our back drive-thru entrance.
SNOWY DAYS = WET CLOTHES!!
The snow has started and the kids love to play in it! No matter how old your child is or what type of snow pants they have, they will be completely wet after 30 minutes in the snow!
Please send a change of clothes along with underwear and socks in a plastic bag in your child's backpack.
We do not have the amount of space needed to keep all sizes of clothes in our nurse's office.
If your child does not have a change of clothes and they get wet during recess, we will have to call home for dry clothes!
Please mark all personal items with your child's name. Lunch boxes, water bottles, backpacks, coats, etc. THIS IS FOR ALL GRADES!!
Ivy Hill Spirit Days
Mark your calendars and don't miss out on the FUN!!
Friday, June 2 - Tie Dye Day

Ivy Hill is lucky to have Mrs. Khan and Mrs. Moncada back this year to serve breakfast and lunch to all of our students!
Breakfast will be served at 8:45 each morning - the cost is $1.75. If your child rides the bus, have them come directly to the commons when they arrive at school.
Lunch schedules change each week - beginning on Monday, 8/29, we will be on Schedule B. Click here for the menu. The cost for lunch is $3.25.
The easiest way to pay for breakfast and lunch to set up an account at MyMealTime.com. Call the office for your child's student ID number. You can also send cash. Please put the cash in an envelope with your child's name on it.
Download the Choosi app to help manage your child's account.
