GETTING REACQUAINTED WITH LIFE
A caretakers guide dealing with a patient with brain damage
Mapping Out A Plan
PUTTING THE PLAN IN MOTION
BEHAVIORAL CHANGES
During the initial time from the patient being considered normal to the point after the brain damage has occurred there may be several behavioral changes that is evident to the family and to you as the caretaker. Normally in brain damage of the frontal lobes one thing that may occur is abnormal sexual behavior. According to (Centre for Neuro Skills, 2015) Orbital frontal damage can introduce abnormal sexual behavior, while dorolateral lesions may reduce sexual interest.
TREATMENTS
In terms of treatments for frontal lobes brain damage long term rehabilitation programs combined with counseling and constant interaction with the social environment and relatives are suggested treatments for patients suffering from this. There have been techniques developed to improve attention, memory and planning that have been shown to increased independence but as for all treatments the ultimate success of the treatment varies from individual to individual. According to (Krucik, 2013) a damaged frontal lobe can lead to Frontal lobe dementia which is also called frontotemporal dementia. And while Frontal lobe dementia isn’t one condition but in fact several disorders that affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain frontal lobe dementia does account for 10 to 15 percent of all dementia cases. Lastly have compassion when dealing with the patients because you have no idea what they are enduring mentally. Love and care is the main ingredient.
