Dear District 67 and 115 Staff, Students, Parents, and Guardians:
In December 2023, we reported that Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jeff McHugh is moving to Glen Ellyn School District 41 next year to become the new District 41 Superintendent effective July 1, 2024. I am writing with an update on reassigning Dr. McHugh’s responsibilities.
We will not fill this open position. Instead, we are taking the opportunity to reorganize the duties of the Deputy Superintendent, including human resources, teaching and learning, and evaluation. This is intended to create operational efficiencies while providing new growth and leadership opportunities for administrators in our districts.
With this in mind, tonight I recommended to the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education to expand the roles of two outstanding District administrators, Dr. Renée Fitzsimmons and Dr. Phil Georgia.
- Pending District 115 and 67 Board approval next month, Everett Elementary School Principal Dr. Fitzsimmons will become Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability. In this role, Dr. Fitzsimmons will oversee and coordinate all aspects of elementary, middle, and high school curriculum, instruction, and assessment, serving on the Superintendent’s Cabinet leadership team. Following next month’s Board vote, we will update the community on the next steps regarding the Everett principalship.
- Pending District 115 and 67 Board approval next month, Director of Human Resources Dr. Georgia will become Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. In this role, Dr. Georgia will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of all Human Resources components of the District 67 and 115 strategic plans, serving on the Superintendent’s Cabinet leadership team.
Next Steps
Pending Board approval, I look forward to welcoming Dr. Fitzsimmons and Dr. Georgia next year to my District leadership team. We have ambitious goals for academic achievement, student and staff well-being, and community engagement. I am confident that these two distinguished leaders will bring invaluable contributions to our endeavors.
All my best,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
