Celebrate Women's History Month
Mrs. B's Buzz
Dear HLA Families,
Happy March! It seems as though February passed by so quickly! We are all looking forward to more sunshine and less pollen! I hope all of our HLA families have a fantastic spring break! We look forward to seeing all students back on Monday March 18!!
As we anticipate the coming of spring, we want to keep our students focused on continuing to strive to do their best! I appreciate all the effort you put in at home to ensure this carries over into their school day. I would like to encourage you as a parent to keep reading with your child at least 20 minutes a day! Not only is there power in reading, but it can also be a nice quiet time to be spent together.
During the month of March, most parents will be meeting with their child's teacher. I hope that you will find these parent teacher conferences valuable. Please plan on attending your child's conference. I will be posting information regarding kindergarten and second grade conferences after spring break!
In closing, students will be out of school on Friday March 29th for a teacher workday. They will return to school on Monday April 1, 2024! Happy Spring Break! Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Easter to all those who celebrate.
All the best,
Mrs. Borganelli

Counselor's Corner
Hello HLA families,
Happy March! There is so much to look forward to this time of year - the weather warming up, spring break, holidays…
Alachua County Public Schools has access to Hazel telehealth therapy services. Please reach out to me if this is something you are interested in! More information can be found at https://getstarted.hazel.co/district/alachua.
Now that we are able to eat lunch outside more regularly, I will be starting up my “lunch bunches” with students throughout the weeks. This is one of my favorite ways to build relationships with our HLA kiddos.
In SEL(Social-Emotional Learning) class, I have been working with the students on a “friendship skills” unit. Lessons include information on empathy, listening skills, and problem-solving.
For example, this week in Kindergarten and 1st grade, I taught lessons on apologizing and taking responsibility for one’s actions. We also read the book “But It’s Not my Fault!” by Julia Cook and discussed what we learned.
I visit every class for SEL regularly. I encourage you to ask your students about what they are learning in SEL and how they can apply it in their day-to-day lives!
I am also excited that my mom, Mrs. Ellen Bowser, will be presenting at our Family Focus later this month! It will be a day that worlds collide for me. 🙂
Have a safe and restful spring break! As always, feel free to reach out to me at any time.
Warmly,
Ms. Bowser
