Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians
It has been such a pleasure to see all of the smiling faces around our school this week!
As a part of our year-long focus on Kindness, this week has been dedicated to SMILES and the joy that they bring to yourself and those around you. We know that smiles are proven to improve physical and mental wellbeing and it is wonderful to watch these contagious grins spread joy throughout the school. Hopefully, this is extending into all our homes as well.
DRIVE-THROUGH PICK UP REMINDERS
I would like to remind all parents that both drive-through systems, at the front of the school and on Barradine Way, are supervised until 3.20pm and we encourage as many parents as possible to arrive after 3.10pm to ease the congestion on the surrounding roads.
Please remember that blocking the roads surrounding the school is illegal. If you are unable to enter the drive-through system without blocking the roads, we ask that you circle the block and re-enter. Please be aware that fines have been issued for those not obeying the road and parking rules.
Many thanks to all families for wearing red and supporting the LIFELINK agencies last week. We haven't counted donations as yet, but will let you know next week, how much we raised.
Many blessings
Tamara McGougan
Principal

Win with ‘My School Rules!’ on 98.5fm
Would you like the opportunity to win a prize for our school? 98.5 Sonshine FM (a Christian based radio station) are giving school students that opportunity. Simply tune into 98.5 between 3:30 and 3:45pm each weekday and listen for your cue to call. The number to call is 9313 0985. All you have to do is answer 10 simple questions as quickly as you can in 45 seconds. The competition runs each term and each school has the chance to win a trophy and have the radio stars visit our school.
The Leaderboard can be found on https://98five.com/drive/ on the right side of the page if you want to keep up to date.
Thanks to Lauren Southgate in Year 5 who is currently in 2nd place but we need more people from our school to phone in to keep us up near the top. Good luck and remember to tune in to 98.5 Sonshine FM.

Disposing of Batteries - School Battery Collection Bin
During Term 1 and 2 our school recycled 18kg of batteries and are currently ranked 39th out of 169 schools.
It is great that we are helping and doing your bit to recycle batteries and keep them out of landfill. Our efforts are making a difference to waste and saved precious materials, energy and water, as well as preventing the hazardous materials in batteries from contaminating our planet.
Just remember – the Battery Collection Bin is NOT for rubbish.
School Banking
School Banking is back on Tuesdays
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for students to learn about money and develop good savings habits. For each weekly deposit made at school, students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once they collect 10 tokens, they can redeem them for a School Banking reward.
If your child has previously participated in School Banking, or has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account, they can start banking straight away by bringing their Dollarmites deposit wallet to school on School Banking day.
If your child has lost their deposit wallet, please contact your School Banking Co-ordinator or visit any Commbank branch for a replacement.
Our School Banking program is made possible because of volunteers. Thank you to those volunteers for donating their time to run School Banking for our students.
If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2020 School Banking program information pack from the school office or visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
