Gas vs. Electric Cars
Liam Connelly, Richie Casaletto, Matt O'Connor, Robbie Noto
Background Information
- William Morrison was the first successful American to create an electric car. The electric carriage was refined by S.R. Bailey and his son Edwin. Before the first electric car needed to be recharged, it could travel up to 50 miles.
- Gas cars work better in certain regions
- Electric cars do many great things for the environment. The electric car is also no longer part of the future and instead part of the present. They started to become part of the present in 2011.
- An electric car is a car that is powered by electric motors using electrical energy. The electrical energy is stored in a battery. Electric cars also have a great acceleration.
A solution to this problem of gas vs electric cars is to use electric cars depending on what type of climate you live in.
Why you should use electric cars
2. Electric cars are quieter than gas cars.
3. Less greenhouse gases produced in the atmosphere from electric cars.
Other peoples arguments on the other side of the issue
- While electric cars are more cost efficient than gasoline, the energy efficiency for gas powered cars improves by 4% per year while electric only improves by 1%.
- In some states such as Kentucky and Wyoming, which use coal to generate the majority of their energy, a more efficient gasoline-powered car may be better for the climate.
Effects on the Environment
Electric Powered- Electric powered cars still pollute the atmosphere. Certain regions in America gas cars are better than electric cars. Depending on how the region produces electricity, if to produce electricity fossil fuels are burned then gas cars are better for the environment. If few fossil fuels are burned for electricity then gas is better.
