Happy March!
We are excited to join together tonight for our Lenski Auction! Thank you so much for your generosity in helping us support our outstanding students at Lenski! It should be an incredible evening! We hope to see you there!
We are also looking forward to conferences next week. We love having the opportunity to share the growth and progress of your students. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to bring something for our staff lunch on March 6th! We are grateful to you!

Staffing Update
We are excited to share some staffing updates as we prepare for next year.
As many of you know, the iconic Mr. Metherd and Mrs. Holt will retire at the end of this year. Their love and dedication to the Lenski community for a combined 53 years of service is unparalleled! We will miss them and wish them the best in the next chapter of their journey.
Ms. Amonson, one of our current Literacy Specialists, will move to 5th Grade next year.
Ms. Myers will move to 4th Grade next year.
Ms. Gilmour will move to 3rd Grade next year.
We will post for one 5th Grade position next week. Stay tuned for a hiring update later this spring.

Trimester 2 report cards are available in your Infinite Campus Family Portal account. You will find your student's report card under the Document link located on the left side of the home page.
National School Breakfast Week March 4th-8th
Surfs up! Come catch the breakfast wave this week as we celebrate National School Breakfast Week! Enjoy a tropical fruit medley with your breakfast on Monday, dive into some blueberry overnight oats on Tuesday, and hang ten with a tropical fruit parfait on Wednesday! It’s guaranteed to be a totally tubular time at breakfast this week.

Managing Behavior at Home
A calm and consistent approach to parenting is usually effective, but children benefit from practicing the skills they need to manage their own behavior and emotions. Here are some things parents can do to support this practice:
Monitor sleep and eating habits - Managing their own behavior is especially difficult for children when they are hungry or tired. The Sleep Foundation recommends 10-13 hours of sleep for 3-5 year olds and 9-12 hours for 6-12 year olds.
Offer (clearly defined) choices - Allowing children choices gives them a sense of control and encourages self-regulation. E.g., “Do you want to take your shower before dinner or after?”, “Do you want to finish all your homework today or would you prefer to do this part today and the rest on Thursday?”
Try not to give directions or correct behavior from a distance - Telling children face-to-face shows what you are saying is important and it helps focus their attention.
Avoid sudden transitions - Providing a 10 minute/5 minute/2 minute warning before children are expected to stop a fun activity or begin a non-preferred activity teaches them to find a good stopping point on their own and reduces frustration.
Keep directions or information simple - Providing one question or instruction at a time makes it more likely that children respond to you and remember the information.
Monitor your own level of stress or anxiety - Maintaining calm and consistent expectations helps children control their own emotions and behaviors..
Enjoy a happy weekend!
