Family Conferences
We have altered the name from Student Led Conferences to Family Conferences. While we still believe the students are an integral part of the conference, we know this is the last time you will meet with your child's teachers in this type of setting. Our students will still be involved in the conference. The parents will be able to meet with the teachers alone, too. During the student led discussions, the students will share their reading, writing, and problem-solving goals. They will also discuss their work habits and how they have adjusted to the new school year.
The Lafayette teachers have to meet with over 40 parents during conferences. To ensure that your time with the teachers is as informative as possible, we have created a brief questionnaire for families. The questionnaire will allow you to maximize your time with the teacher. Your child's homeroom teacher will be sending this form out at the end of the month.
Our conferences are scheduled for the first week of December, Monday - Friday, December 4th - 8th. All of these days will be early dismissal days for the students (12:45pm). Your child's teacher will be reaching out to schedule your conference in the coming weeks.

Walk to School Wednesday
In search of volunteers for Walk to School Wednesday on October 11th. Join us at LAF from 8:10am-8:45am to welcome kids to school for our first Walk to School day of the year. There will be music and a Chatham Township Detective, speaking to the kids about pedestrian safety. If we can pull it off with enough helpers, we'll also have a fun game and hand out giveaways. Please reach out to Jessica.Romeo@Gmail.com if you are available to help on this fun morning! Thanks!

Halloween Parties @ LAF
The Halloween candy and decorations were out in early September, so here is some LAF Halloween information. In the next couple of weeks, the class parents will be reaching out for volunteers to contribute to each homeroom's class party.
Our parade is at 1:50pm in the back of the building. The class parties will vary depending upon the teacher's schedule.
Class Parties/Food Events
All parents and students will be informed of any classroom parties or events where food is being served. Our policy for bringing food into the classroom is as follows:
The homeroom teachers will reach out to the Class Parents at least two weeks before the classroom party and inform them of any classroom allergies and date of the party.
Forty-eight hours before the party, room parents will share the party menu with the parents and teacher via email.
All items for the party should be bought from a store. Homemade treats are not allowed.
When sharing the item and ingredient information via email, a picture of the item or link to the company website should be provided.
Students are welcome to bring in their own snack as long as the snack is permitted into the classroom environment (i.e., peanut free classroom, etc.).
Costume Guidelines
- Students can come to LAF dressed in their costumes on Halloween.
- We encourage all accessories to be left at home due to the fact that many of these items are often lost or behind at school.
- Costumes cannot promote the use of drugs, alcohol or weapons of any kind.
No pretend “prop” weapons such as water pistols, knives or swords.
Costumes may not be offensive or inappropriate in any way.
Students choosing to wear costumes must be able to sit in their desk without distracting others and participate fully in all class activities.
If in doubt, keep it home.
