NWEE Arrival and Dismissal Update
Beginning September 21, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Now that summer is winding down to an end and our unfavorable Michigan weather is upon us we will be updating our parent arrival and dismissal procedures to better protect our students. We will continue to use our specific grade level doors to enter and exit. It will be very important to go over these procedures with your student so this experience is predictable and positive.
Our New Procedures Will Start Monday, September 21, 2020.
Unless We Experience Extreme Weather Before Then.
Y5 / Kindergarten
Arrival: Kindergarten teachers will arrange themselves just inside the main entrance in the cafeteria using the same cones that were used outside. Parents are welcome to utilize the curbside drop off or walk their student to the main entrance door.
Dismissal: Parents/guardians will show their identification to their respective teacher/cohort teacher outside on the main entrance side walk.
* During extreme weather this may occur under the awning at the main entrance and the students will be brought out to them.
First Grade
Arrival: First grade students will continue to walk down the first grade sidewalk (labeled on lamp post) and meet their teachers just inside the doorway in the main hallway. Parents are welcome to utilize the curbside drop off or park in the parking lot and walk their student to the 1st grade entrance door.
Dismissal: Parents will show their identification to teachers on the 1st grade sidewalk.
* During extreme weather this may occur closer to the building and the students will be brought out to them.
Second Grade
Arrival: Second grade students will walk down the second grade sidewalk (labeled on lamp post) and meet their cohort teachers in their classrooms. Parents are welcome to utilize the curbside drop off or park in the parking lot and walk their student to the second grade entrance door.
Dismissal: Parents will show their identification to the teachers on the second grade sidewalk.
* During extreme weather this may occur closer to the building and the students will be brought out to them.
Our goal is to get every student in our building safely and keep the cars off from Lansing Avenue.
If everyone can do the following we can achieve this.
- Have your student ready to exit the vehicle on the passenger side.
- Do not park or leave your car in the fire/drop off lane.
- Pull forward to the car in front of you to utilize every inch of the sidewalk.
- Use the crosswalk. This keeps you safe and allows the cars to pull down and utilize the entire sidewalk.
- If you get to school before 8:45 a.m. park in the parking lot until you see staff in the high visibility vests.
Thank you for your patience and attention to safety!
