The J-List
March 22, 2024
Hello JES Family,
Welcome Back and I hope everyone had an amazing Spring Break! It has been so fun hearing our students share their stories and adventures from the break.
I spent a big part of my week visiting and observing classrooms and have been so impressed with our focus on learning. Our kids and teachers are working so hard!
Thank you for your continued support of our teachers and campus. I am grateful for the opportunity you have given me to serve this amazing community. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any compliments or concerns to share.

Morning Drop Off Update
Thank you for helping us with morning drop-off! Just a reminder that the entrance to the car drop-off line closes at 7:38 am each morning. Anyone arriving after that should please park in the front parking lot and walk your student in to the office. Students arriving in the office prior to the 7:40 am tardy bell will not be counted late.

JES Solar Eclipse Event
On April 8th we will be in the path to experience a once in a lifetime total solar eclipse event! This eclipse is special to us because:
- The last time DFW experienced a total eclipse was 1878.
- On April 8, 2024, DFW will experience 4.5 minutes of totality – the longest amount of totality in the country.
- Dallas is the largest metropolitan area in the line of totality.
- After April 8, DFW will not experience a total eclipse for an estimated 300 years.
- The next opportunities for total eclipses in the United States are 2044 (North Dakota and Montana) and 2045 (California to Florida – totality will be in Oklahoma).
JES will be celebrating this event with a Solar Eclipse Watch Party. Our generous PTO has secured enough eclipse glasses for all of our students and staff.
In order for your student to participate in the outdoor viewing of the eclipse, you must sign this form and return it to school by April 8th. If the signed form is not returned, your student will not participate in the outdoor viewing of the eclipse.
4th Grade Parents - Picture Wall
We have a fun JES tradition where, for the month of May, our PTO will hang both a Kindergarten picture and 4th grade picture (side by side) of each of our 4th graders in the main hall. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please send in a 4x6 of your child in Kindergarten and 4th Grade (preferably their school pictures or a copy) in a zip lock bag or envelope with your child’s name and teacher's name by April 19th. We will try our best to get these pictures back to you, so please make sure to label so it makes that process easy. You can send this with your child to give to their teacher or drop off at the front office.
