Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
March 22nd, 2024
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
As we head into spring break, we wish you all a safe and enjoyable time. Whether you are planning a vacation, staycation, or just taking some time to relax at home, we hope you make the most of this well-deserved break.
Spring break is an excellent opportunity to spend quality time with your family and friends and recharge before the school year's final stretch. We encourage all our families and students to take advantage of this time and hope you can create special memories and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
Know that we will always be here for you and your children. And if the break is a tough one for your family, don't hesitate to reach out. We will support in any way we can. We are a community here at Muskego Lakes that extends beyond the walls of the school- and we truly mean that.
We look forward to seeing students back at Muskego Lakes refreshed and ready to finish the year strong!
In partnership,
Rachel and Nancy
Muskego Lakes Principals

Bus Reminders
We would like to remind you that bus behavior is an extension of the school day and riding on the bus is a privilege afforded to our students. Just as we expect respectful and responsible behavior in the classroom, we also expect the same standards to be upheld while traveling to and from school. It's crucial for the safety and well-being of all students that good behavior is maintained on the bus. We kindly request your support in reinforcing this message with your child, emphasizing the importance of respectful conduct during their bus rides. Together, we can ensure a positive and safe environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation.
Does your student start their day at MHS?
7th & 8th grade students that start their day at Muskego High School are not to report to Muskego High School for their classes on Tuesday, April 16th, as we will be hosting Pre-ACT testing for the Freshman and Sophmores only. In addition, because of the high school Community Service Day for all classes, they should also not report on Tuesday, April 23th.We ask that students who normally start their day at MHS report to Muskego Lakes at the start of the day and report to the library on each of these days.

The Infinite Campus priority registration window will be open 8:00 AM Wednesday 4/3 through 4 PM Friday 4/5. At that time, registration will temporarily close so students can be scheduled into their requested classes.
Course requests during the Priority Registration period are not time stamped. It is not first come, first served.
Any classes with more requests than seats will be determined by lottery.
It is very important to select alternate courses in the event that a class is filled. If alternate classes are not selected, there is a greater likelihood of gaps in your child’s schedule.
Schedules will be posted to Infinite Campus 4 PM on Friday, April 19. At that time, late registration will reopen to families who have not yet registered, as well as the wait list for schedule change requests. Course availability may be limited.
Safety Tips from Officer Sandretti
As we continue on this series about social media and phone safety, this week we are going to talk about steps regarding keeping your child safe by avoiding predators. The best advice I have is that prior to giving your child access to any device that can access the internet or that requires a passcode or face ID to enter the device, please ensure you have the passcodes or passwords so you have access to monitor as well.
In addition, have a conversation with your child about how to be safe and what the family expectations are regarding the given devices. If the child ever violates the rules and expectations, have clear communication regarding consequences. I encourage parents to have their child charge their electronic devices in a family room or in the kitchen and not to allow access in their bedrooms at nighttime. Talk to your child regarding answering the phone or texting with unknown numbers, as these are also common ways for predators, hackers or scammers to victimize you or your child.
Common grooming techniques used by predators against juveniles include them making the juvenile feel comfortable talking with them. This may include sympathizing, giving special attention to, and talking friendly too, which will gain the trust of the juvenile. Once the trust is established they may begin to manipulate your child into thinking they are the only ones who care about them, and begin to isolate them. Once they are isolated they will attempt to gain control of the relationship by convincing the child to keep the relationship a secret. This all leads to the potential risk of further communication or requests. Encourage your child to never send any private pictures of themselves to anyone, this includes boyfriends/girlfriends or strangers they met online. Once these photographs are sent, they are hard to control and the person may use the photograph as blackmail. Remember to always pay attention to your child’s behavior and moods. If they are unusually quiet, or isolated this may be a sign something is wrong. The website, https://safechild.org/understanding-grooming/ does a nice job illustrating the grooming techniques by online perpetrators.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at jared.sandretti@muskegonorway.org, or calling the school at (262)971-1860.
