Principal’s Message
Cavett Families,
Cavett achieved a 99% completion rate in State and DIBELS testing and what a remarkable accomplishment. That speaks volumes about the dedication and hard work of the teachers, students, and parents involved. It's wonderful to see such a strong community effort towards education. Celebrating this success is important, as it not only acknowledges everyone's hard work but also motivates them for future challenges. Great job to everyone involved for showing up and showing off their knowledge and skills!
Please take a moment to complete your child's registration for the upcoming school year, 24-25. Early registration aids us in effectively planning class sizes and student placements. Additionally, it informs the district about our anticipated teacher requirements. Kindly log into ParentVUE to register your child today, or visit the TUSD Register page further assistance.
Stay informed about school happenings by keeping an eye out for communication from your child's teacher. Join our Facebook page for weekly updates on current events at Cavett.
Lastly, we kindly ask for your consideration in making tax credit donations to Cavett. Your contributions directly benefit our school, supporting programs such as fine arts, field trips, and sports. Your generosity is truly valued, and every donation makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to Cavett Elementary.
Warm regards,
Carol Leeson

Character Trait of the Month - Honesty
This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.
Conversation Starters:
- Can you share or show what it means to practice Honesty?
- What is 1 way you can be more Honest with others?
PurposeFull Pursuits:
Have some fun connecting as a family this month while practicing Honesty. Here are 2 “PurposeFull Pursuits” you can complete together!
#1 Review Honesty as a family! Honesty is being truthful in what you say and do. Discuss the importance of being Honest and work together to create a family Honesty pledge. Create and decorate a sign together that explains what Honesty means in your family. Have each family member sign the pledge and choose a spot to display it. Refer back to the pledge as a reminder to be Honest and to celebrate when Honesty is practiced!
#2 Set aside some time to gather as a family and check in with each other. Ask each family member, “How are you feeling today?” Practice Honesty when responding and listen carefully as each family member shares. Use the emotion check-in questions to learn more. Challenge yourselves to check in with each other on a regular basis! Emotion Check-In Questions: ● Tell me more about that feeling. ● Why do you think you are feeling that emotion? ● What do you need right now?.
Cell Phones
We have seen a lot of usage of cell phones and air pods during the school day. Please remind your student that if they bring their phone, air pods, smart watches etc. they need to keep it in their pocket or backpack, and we are not responsible for items lost or stolen. Students are not allowed to use electronics during class, passing period, etc. Students seen using electronics without permission will have items confiscated. You may view the TUSD Policy here.
